That goddamn invitation stared you in the face from its place on the desk. It was Sunday, March 29th, and you still weren't married to the man of your dreams. You received an email three weeks before that your venue was forced to close their doors for the quarantine and you were stuck at home with not only Tom, but his brother, and both of his best friends. They'd had their fun with the pub quizzes, puzzle building, chicken raising, challenge accepting, but your fiancé always sensed the discontentment that radiated off of you and he was always willing to try and calm it to the best of his ability. But it never seemed to fully work, Tom knowing more than anyone that the fact the wedding you were so excited to plan, exhausted so much time and money into, wasn't happening when you wanted it to. You had a dress hanging in your shared closet, shoes, everything down to the cake delivery plan and the bouquet pickup dates. But it was all cancelled and it was like it was stored in a box and put up on a shelf. And to you, it seemed like Tom didn't understand the way you did, he wasn't hurt the way you were.
Tom sighs as he enters your bedroom, closing the door behind him and cooing down at Tessa and nearing you. His eyes wander from your figure, one leg drawn up to your chest to the laptop now asleep in front of you. He leans down to press a kiss to your cheek, feeling the anxious waves roll off of you once more,
"You alright darling?" He asks anyways. You nod and he knows you're lying because he follows your eyes to the invitation you had gleefully told him would end up in a scrapbook when you got past the wedding. He sighs again, moving to sit back on the bed,
"I know how upset you are babe. And you know I hate it too. I loved the idea of seeing you walk down that aisle in this beautiful dress with our family around and all." He states. You can feel the tears burn your eyes as he speaks. You nod, letting him wheel your chair between his legs and clear your hair from your shoulder,
"Talk to me love. You know I hate when you're quiet. You're never quiet." He says. You swallow, lips pursed for a moment before you sniffle and shake your head,
"We would've been married a day today Tom. We would have had our dream wedding yesterday and we would have been in Fiji today." You express, Tom flinching at the anguish in your voice,
"I know love. It sucks, it really does." You nod, reaching up to pinch the bridge of your nose. Not only has your wedding been shelved until further notice, but you're stuck in a testosterone filled house 24/7. You had hoped that soon, maybe in the next year or so, you and Tom would be finding your own place, being newlyweds and starting that family you so badly wanted. You let out a sob that kills Tom and his brain runs a mile a minute at what he can do for you. He clicks his tongue, dragging you into his arms and listening to you sob. He runs his fingers through your hair, eyes closed as he lets you cry, knowing how hard it’s been on you. Not only the wedding, but the quarantine. He always had a way with feelings and he always knew what you were feeling even if you didn’t say it. He sighs,
“I wish there was something I could do for you darling.” He mutters into your hair, kissing your temple. His head continues to throb in thought, eyes darting back and forth as he tries to come up with an answer good enough for you. And then it hits him. He sits up, standing after a moment to drop to his knees at your feet,
"Baby, babe, I have an idea." He starts, tugging your hand from your face and holding both of yours in both of his, "Darling, hear me out. You and I have been looking forward to this wedding for months, almost a year. So, what if we go through with it and set up a little wedding ceremony in the back yard, just us and the boys and just fuckin do it still? What do you think?" He asks. You stare down at him, watching his eyes swirl in worry and hurt at the sight of you, his thumbs coming up to collect the tears from under your own eyes,
"I think it could be cool. We could- I-I mean you have your dress and I have more fucking tuxes than I know what to do with. I could- that florist we were using is doing curbside pickup and we paid for the order, I could go pick up just your bouquet and we could set up some chairs in the backyard-"
"Tom, someone would have to ordain it."
"Says who? We just have a little ceremony, wear our rings and when the world is normal-ish again, we go out and get married for real, reception and all with our families and we can... cure your little depression." He tries to lighten,
"We can just... wait until like August or something." You try and brush off. Tom quickly shakes his head,
"Fuck that. You wanted a Spring wedding with all the pastels. We're not settling for an anniversary in August when we were excited for March or April. If we're doing it, we're doing it now or we're doing it next Spring and I've waited long enough to make you my wife. I don't want to wait another year." He reasons. After a moment, he purses his lips,
"I wonder..." He trails off, standing from his knees and starting out of the room. You throw your arms up, Tessa taking his place on the bed behind you, tail shuffling the bedding as she laps at your cheeks and you squeal.
Tom hurries down the hall and into the living room where the boys are playing Call of Duty, just like he left them. He presses the button on the TV to turn it off and gain the full, undivided attention of the now irritated, chattering boys. Tom waves his hands in the air to quiet the group,
"I'll turn it back on in a minute, I need to ask a favor of you guys." He yells over them. They quiet then, watching Tom lick his lips,
"I need... h-have any of you thought of getting ordained as a minister?" He asks. All three pairs of eyebrows furrow, the boys looking between themselves before Harry looks back up at his brother, one eyebrow raised,
"Fucking what?" Harry asks. Harrison snickers before Tom rolls his eyes,
"I was thinking Y/N and I could have a wedding ceremony in the backyard but we need someone to officiate for it to actually mean anything. That's what she's most upset about. I just... I was wondering if one of you guys could do it." He elaborates, suddenly feeling small, stupid. The room is silent for a moment before Tuwaine tsks,
"Fuck it, I'll do it. It'll give me something to do in this damn house." He speaks up with a shrug, Tom's heart feeling a little more free now that Tuwaine has agreed. Tom thanks him, watching his friend nod,
"How long do you think it'll take?" Tuwaine shrugs again,
"Think it's like two weeks." Tom nods and turns the TV back on before turning and starting back down the hall. He slams his door behind him, finding the desk calendar that has had big red X's across it for weeks now. He tosses it on the bed before your newly laid down figure,
"Pick a new wedding date two weeks from now. Any date you want." He says, chocolate colored eyes sparkling up at you in so much intent. You sigh, rubbing your thumb across Tessa's paw as you raise to an elbow and look over the calendar. It takes you a moment, but you point to the 11th of April. Tom finds a marker on your desk and adds the text, "New Wedding" before he returns the calendar to the spot in front of you,
"Tuwaine has agreed to get ordained and... we can get married the eleventh in the backyard. I'll pick up your bouquet and I can... go get a cake from the store and we'll just have a little wedding here. It'll be small and... maybe not as pretty as the wedding we spent all that time planning, but it's ours and that's what matters." He reasons. You nod, staring down at the grey puppy laid before you. He stands, leaning over your body to kiss your forehead,
"I'll do the best I can to make you happy with this. I know it isn't ideal but... I think it'll be beautiful babe." You nod, glancing up at him. He smiles,
"I'm excited to see you in your dress baby. I love you and I just know you'll be gorgeous." He says, kissing your lips softly. You nod, petting Tessa and feeling the tightening in your chest let up, the excitement growing inside your belly like it did the first time you planned a wedding,
"Yeah. I think it'll be nice to... just actually be able to say we're married and have that strength during this... really fucked up time." You confirm. He nods,
"I'd love to have Mrs. Holland runnin around here the rest of quarantine. We didn't think this whole lockdown thing would happen and I like the idea of going through with our wedding in it. A big fuck you to the world." You admit. He hums, staring down at you before he smiles and stands again,
"Lets fuck around and get married then yeah?" You can't fight the smile as he takes your hands. You squeal as he pulls you up into his arms, your arms wrapping around his shoulders as he kisses your cheek,
"You know that if I could choose one thing to do outside of quarantine it would be to marry your fine ass. That hasn't changed and I don't think that this fucking shit should take over. We still have that love for each other and I think we should still go through with it around the time we said we were going through with it." Tom explains. You nod as he rubs your arms,
"Me too. I think it's a really good idea." He smiles and nods,
"And the best thing is that... bullshit thing you'd said about spending all that money on that dress for a one time wear will go out that window because I'll pay for another big ass wedding when we can have one." Tom reassures. You nod, laying your head against his shoulder as he sways you. He holds you close, eyes closing in peace now that he knows he can at least give you somewhat of that fairytale wedding you planned.
Tumblr media
Neither you or Tom could deny that the excitement of your backyard wedding was getting overwhelming just as the idea of your actual wedding had. Tom had added a few more people to your guest list to include his parents, Paddy, Sam, and Elysia and your parents were set up to facetime you and watch you marry your fiancé from a different country. In that time, Tuwaine had acquired his officiant license and had printed off a marriage certificate to ensure your legal anniversary was April 11th. You had helped pick out a tux to wear and reached an agreement with Harrison that Tom would use his room to get ready so you could maintain the secrecy of your dress, hair, and makeup. The last of Tom's endeavors was picking up the colorful bouquet from the florist, handing it to his mother who followed Elysia towards your bedroom to help with hair and makeup. The last of your priorities was discussing your want for his father to walk you down the aisle for the full feel, the group setting up an arch Tom's parents already had in the backyard of their own to give the pictures Harry agreed to take, a better look. The only thing agreed upon when it came to picture taking was it remained strictly after the ceremony, the both of you wanting everyone to enjoy the ambiance and not worry about what jobs they're supposed to be doing.
Sam, Paddy, Tuwaine, Tom, Harry, Harrison, and Dom had spent the time setting chairs up, decorating the arch in things you'd already bought for the wedding, each man doing their fair share of trying to calm Tom of his nerves but nearly to no avail. By four o'clock, he's standing before the arch with Tuwaine who continues to try and calm him. Nikki and Elysia exit the back door, Tom's eyes drawn to the inside of your house. Once he sees movement, his heart skips a beat and you, in all of your beauty, emerge, arm looped in Dom's as he escorts you towards his son and your future husband. You smile when you catch his eye, gripping your bouquet tight in your hand. Dom pauses, snapping to relinquish Tessa, basket handle held in her mouth which contains your rings. Each of the family members laugh, including Tom who crouches and greets the puppy in the pinkish white dress he'd bought her a few years ago. He has her sit as Harry, having already connected his phone to your Bluetooth speaker, begins to play "Canon In D" and the rest of the group stands to welcome you out,
"Deep breath. Last thing I need is you passing out before I get you there." Dom jokes as you begin walking, ivory heels sinking into the grass beneath your feet, something you hadn't planned on dealing with when it came to your originally planned wedding. You smile up at him, holding his bicep tighter and taking breaths to calm your pounding heart. Nikki catches your eye, iPad with your parents smiling widely from their living room back home in hand. Her smile matches, the same as Sam, Paddy, Elysia, Harrison, Harry, and Tuwaine as Tom stares you down. The image of him is seared into your brain, tears in his eyes and it's everything you've imagined it'd be, of course under different circumstances. Dom pauses just before Tom, you fiancé stepping forward to take your hand from his father,
"Who gives this woman to this man in marriage?" Tuwaine asks, Tom and Dom meeting eyes before his father speaks,
"I do." Dom says, leaning in to kiss your cheek and pat Tom on the shoulder before he takes your bouquet and joins Nikki. Tom helps you stand across from him, finally on cement again,
"You look beautiful darling." He mutters,
"Thank you. You cleaned up nice yourself." You reply. Tuwaine clears his throat as Tom rubs his thumbs across your knuckles,
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Thomas Stanley Holland and Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N in marriage. Not only have all of us witnessed the love and dedication the two have for each other, but we shall all feel privileged knowing they chose us to witness the matrimony these two shall embark on. We have watched both grow and thrive and mature in the company of each other and now we are blessed to watch them grow further as husband and wife, as one entity." You smile at Tom who takes a deep breath at Tuwaine's introduction. Tuwaine pauses for a moment before he begins again, with the readings,
"You each chose a quote. So Y/N chose, from Maya Angelou, 'Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps, hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.' Tom, you chose, from George Eliot, 'What greater thing is there for two human souls, than to feel that they are joined for life–to strengthen each other in all labor, to rest on each other in all sorrow, to minister to each other in silent unspeakable memories at the moment of the last parting?'" Both quotes had been made for you it seemed. There were so many things within the relationship that proved to be a hurdle for the both of you. Tom obviously traveled a lot with his job, and you had to deal with the distance for long periods of time, both as his girlfriend and fiancée. The facetime calls killed you and your heart hurt daily until you were with him again. And when you were, it was freeing. No matter how long you'd been apart, Tom always came back and you were always together and back to being in love like he never left,
"Now, you both have prepared vows. We'll do those now," Tuwaine remarks and Sam stands to hand both folded papers over, "Y/N, read yours first." You unfold the paper, heart pounding at the vows you'd prepared months in advance and had recently edited to fit the current circumstances. You clear your throat,
"Tom, my love, my light. You have always been my rock at both my best and my worst, through everything. You have always pushed me to be the best version of myself that I could be and you've always been the most wise and selfless person in my life. My love for you is immeasurable and I have never been able to imagine my life without you and your happy, carefree, charisma, spunk in my life. I've been infatuated and in love with you for years and I've always known, for as long as I can remember, that I've wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, just the two of us being in love. As my husband, I promise to stay the same crazy person you agreed to date all those years ago. I promise to continue to annoy the hell out of you, cling to you in the morning when you try and get up, stick my cold feet and hands on your bare skin, and ruin your tea every once in a while, sometimes on purpose, sometimes on accident," Tom laughs, sniffling back his tears, "but more than anything, as your wife I promise to always be your quarantine buddy and I promise to always love you unconditionally and make you as happy as I can and at least pretend to love the same things you do just to listen to you ramble in the adorable way you always do." You finish, reaching up to dab the tears away. Tom's laughter dies down and he clears his own tears away, the rest of the group doing the same as you fold the paper back up. Tom smiles, staring down at you with such adoration in his eyes. Tuwaine allows a brief pause before turning to his friend,
"Now Tom, will you please read your vows to Y/N?" The brunette nods, unfolding his own sheet of notebook paper and clearing his throat,
"I don't know that mine are that good but uhm... I tried." He mutters, laughing along with you and the family. He purses his lips for a moment before clearing his throat again, licking his lips and his eyebrows knit together for a moment,
"Y/N, the love of my life, my biggest supporter, and my confidante, I have never loved anyone more than I have loved you and I have never been loved by someone like you. My biggest regret will always be not giving you the wedding you so obviously deserve even though I've promised to throw you the biggest reception ever once the world starts spinning again," you giggle, clearing your tears again, "you have always stuck with me, through thick and thin, through terrible time differences and long months apart only to welcome me back like we've just paused time. You're compassionate, beautiful, funny, and so silly and I have never had a dull moment with you and I know I never will. My promise to you, as your husband, is that I'll never make life boring. I'll always be your rock, I'll always give your life meaning the way you've done for me, and I'll always make sure you know how loved you are. No matter how many times we fight and how stupid those fights are. And no matter what, there is no one I would rather marry during quarantine than you. I would do anything for you, both before and even more so after quarantine and making you happy in any way I can is what I'll always do. I love you." He finishes, sniffling and folding his vows back up to tuck in his inside pocket,
"I love you too." You whisper as he takes your hands again. There isn't a dry eye in the house, not even Tuwaine who, from the beginning has watched and listened to one of his best friends fall in love with you and now he has the privilege of watching it come to fruition. He was given the privilege of marrying the two of you in an equally as beautiful as your original, backyard wedding. He sniffles himself before looking down at the pages he holds,
"Alright, now the exchange of rings. Tom, please find Y/N's ring and put it on her as you say the following phrase." Tom nods, kneeling to fish the beautiful diamond ring he’d proposed to you with, from Tessa's basket, patting her head before he stands and looks at the paper in Tuwaine’s hands, clearing his throat again. He takes your hand again, staring up into your eyes as he starts,
“Y/N, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love. As it encircles your finger, may it remind you always that you are surrounded by my enduring love." He repeats the phrase from the paper, glancing up into your eyes again as he slides the ring all the way onto your finger, licking his lips. Tuwaine allows another pause before he turns to look at you,
“And now Y/N, the same.” He commands, waiting until you retrieve Tom’s ring to hold the page out to you,
“Tom, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love. As it encircles your finger, may it remind you always that you are surrounded by my enduring love.” You relay to the man across from you, a smile crossing his features. He knows what follows and it’s surreal knowing that it’s happening. He’s marrying you, the love of his life, in his garden and life can’t get much better. Tuwaine turns his page,
“Now, by the power vested in me, you may kiss your bride.” He directs Tom’s way. His dark brown eyes meet yours before he steps forward, one arm wrapping around your waist, the other reaching up to caress your cheek before he leans in to kiss you, your own arms looping under his. The crowd around you claps as Tom kisses you, leaning you back just the smallest bit before he leans back himself, pressing his forehead to yours and smiling, kissing you once more before he stands back and glances up at Tuwaine, smiling down at the two of you,
“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stanley and Y/N Y/M/N Holland.” Tuwaine hollers as both sets of parents, Tom’s siblings, Tom’s best friend and Elysia all cheer and Tom thrusts your hand, wrapped in his, up in victory. He glances over at you, smile wide across his face as he leans in one last time to kiss you and Harry plays the song you set to walk back down the aisle to, Tom leading you with your hand in his back inside the house. Once inside, he squeals, pulling you in,
“You do realize we just got married right? Like… you’re Mrs. Holland now. As you should have been two weekends ago.” Tom reminds. You giggle and nod, glancing down at the ring on your finger,
“Yes I do. I love you more than anything.” You tell Tom who holds your waist as you lean in for yet another kiss, your family entering the back doors. Each of them beeline to congratulate you, each of them dishing out hugs and kisses, the girls asking to see the ring on your finger. You take the iPad from Nikki's hands, greeting your parents and showing them the wedding ring on your finger. They ask for Tom who presses a hand to your lower back, greeting them cheerfully and thanking them as they dish out congratulatories,
"Right," Tuwaine's voice booms out over the chatter. He looks between you and Tom, holding up a piece of paper, "Pardon the interruption, but I need bride, groom, and two witnesses to make it official, official." He remarks. Tom wraps his arm around your waist as you hand Nikki back the iPad,
"So... who do you reckon is lucky enough to be our official witnesses?" He whispers in your ear. You sigh,
"I dunno. Uhm... your mom and... your best friend?" You pose quietly as to not offend anyone. He smiles and reaches out to fluff your hair with a smile,
"I think that's a good idea," he turns to the group, "mum, Haz... will you guys... be our witnesses?" Tom asks. You see the devotion, the adoration and respect in Harrison's bright blue eyes as a smirk tugs at one corner of his mouth. He nods,
"I'd be honored." He mutters, Nikki reaching out to rub your arm once she's handed the iPad to Dom,
"Me too." She smiles wider as you and Tom follow Tuwaine to the dining room table, watching him lean in to sign the marriage certificate,
"First the officiant signs it, and then the two witnesses." He explains, handing the pen to Nikki. She smiles as she leans in and signs the paper, passing the pen to Harrison all while Harry is snapping photos. He snaps at you and Tom,
"Lets get some pics of just you two outside with the arch." He says. You nod, taking Tom's hand and following the two boys outside and up to the arch, Tom's arm wrapping around your waist again. He sighs,
"Nice day for a wedding, ay darling?" He jokes. You giggle and nod, leaning up to kiss him softly as Harry's camera clicks, your eyes darting between Tom's,
"It's the perfect day for a wedding cutie."
Tumblr media
You watch through the back door as the boys play the same game they'd been obsessed with for months. You roll Tom's fingers in your own, tucking the blanket under your chin further. Tom sighs beside you, pressing his lips into your hair,
"Darling?" You hum an answer, glancing up at your husband when he doesn't respond. His dark eyes find yours after another moment,
"Are you happy?" He asks. Your eyebrows furrow,
"What do you mean T?" He shrugs, threading his fingers through yours while you're preoccupied,
"I just mean... two months ago we watched this virus roll in and we never thought it would get this bad to the point we'd be spending every waking moment in this house with three other men and that it'd result in a wedding we were so excited to plan and see through and it wasn't... exactly what we planned, but, I dunno, I just mean, are you happy with what we had here today?" He elaborates, glancing back up at the stars that sparkle above you both from the place in your hammock. You linger in the silence for another moment before you shift to place your hand over Tom's beating heart,
"Do you remember... that Jared commercial we saw the other night?" You ask. His eyes half roll as he thinks, teeth chewing the inside of his cheek and then he nods,
"Yeah, the one with the virtual weddings?" He asks. You nod,
"Do you remember what it said and how you nudged me to get the point of it all?" You pose. He nods,
"Yeah." You nod once more,
"You did it because the point of that commercial is that it doesn't matter about the dress, or the cake, or the guest list or how formal everything is. What matters is the love the two people getting married have for each other, especially during trying times like now." You remind him. He smiles, playing with your hair,
"Right." You rub his chest,
"Whether I married you today in our back yard with all of the things we have from our wedding or I marry you in August back in our venue with new stuff doesn't matter because it isn't the date that matters, it's you and me and how we show we love each other." His smile is bright as he squeezes your fingers between his. You sigh,
"I could have married you in that dress in there with fifty people and a cake and a vibrant bouquet and all that in April or I could have married you in a trash bag in the middle of August with dead flowers and it would not have changed my love for you Tom." You reassure. He reaches out with his opposite hand to tuck hair behind your ear,
"So you're happy?" He reiterates. You giggle, nodding and situating yourself to rest your head further up Tom's shoulder,
"Extremely. And always with you." He leans in to kiss you softly,
"Me too love. My vows were 100% from my heart. I've never loved anyone like you and I would do whatever it takes to make sure you understand that."
"I do. Mine were honest too. No matter what the problem, no matter how tired you are, you've always been there for me. I have never, ever been more in love with someone and I don't wanna know anything else. Of course... I've been down because I'm in a house with four guys and I don't get to have my fairytale wedding and honestly, we'd be looking for our own place, just the two of us but... I loved today. Our family and friends, my dress, my bouquet, my beautiful fiancè. I'm more than happy Tom." You explain to him. He strokes your hair down, leaning in to kiss you once more,
"I love you more than anything Y/N." He says softly. You smile, reaching up to rub your thumb across his cheek,
"I love you too Tom," you hold your hand up, brandishing the wedding ring on your finger, "for life now. I've got you." You tell him. He chuckles,
"Forever and always love. Now when we... get back to the world we'll get our own place, I promise, and... soon enough, we'll be tryin for some beautiful babies."
"Slow your roll Holland, we gotta get outta this damn house first. And having a kid isn't our first priority once we do get our place." You jokingly scold. Tom chuckles, smile fading after a moment and he frowns,
"We aren't... going to wait til we move out to consummate our marriage are we?" He poses. You giggle,
"I hadn't planned on it, no."
"Oh thank god." He mutters, the both of you relaxing against each other, staring up at the stars for a moment longer. He sighs, fingers nonchalantly rubbing up and down your arm. He hums before pressing his lips into your hair again,
"Happy anniversary love." He mutters. You glance up at him again, smile widening,
"About damn time Mr. Holland." He chuckles again,
"And now, every April 11th, for the rest of our lives, we'll be reminded of the day we got married in our backyard." He says. You lay your head against his shoulder,
"I wouldn't have it any other way." You admit. His lips press to your forehead,
"Me neither darling, me neither." He mumbles, wrapping his arm tight around you. And the uncertainty you had felt weeks ago when your wedding was forced to be cancelled, was gone now that you were in the arms of Tom. Not only your rock, but your husband. Now and always.

Anna nods off, her coffee forgotten. Work orientations are the worst.
A few minutes later, a soft cough from somewhere over her left shoulder stirs her. Anna sits up and blinks, looking around for the source. Her cheeks redden as she realizes she’s been caught falling asleep on her first day of her new job.
“Behind you,” a soft voice says.
Anna turns in her seat, and the flush to her face deepens as she is met by the most gorgeous woman with white-blonde hair and a flawless pale complexion. Dressed in a light gray business suit and blue blouse, Anna surmises that she’s one of the bosses and immediately stands up, ready to beg her to let her keep her new job. She smooths out her own wrinkled black skirt and opens her mouth to grovel when the woman speaks again.
“You, um…” The woman wipes the corner of her mouth with her index finger.
Anna’s brows furrow, and she raises her hand up to her mouth. Finding wetness there, her eyes widen.
“Oh, shi- She stops herself from further embarrassment as she wipes at her face with the sleeve of her green blouse. Drool is embarrassing enough as it is.
The woman smiles softly and says, “Orientations are never fun. I actually arrived a few minutes late. Don’t tell anyone.“
Anna gapes. Of all the things for this woman to say, she did not expect that. “Yeah…”
“I’m Elsa.” The woman extends her hand and waits for Anna to introduce herself, that soft smile never leaving her face.
It takes Anna a second to stop staring and shake Elsa’s hand. “Anna. It’s nice to meet you, Elsa. So, what’d I miss?”
Elsa giggles, and it’s the most melodious sound Anna has ever heard.
“We’re taking a ten minute break. There are some breakfast items outside if you’d like to join,” Elsa nods to the doors of the plantarium where they’ve spent the last hour learning about Frost Museum, one of Miami’s biggest museums and their new workplace.
“Yeah.” Anna picks up her now-cold coffee cup. “I didn’t have time to eat earlier. I was already afraid I’d sleep through my alarm.”
Elsa giggles again. “ I’m glad one of us didn’t.“
Anna smiles easily, happy to have made a new friend on her first day. Not to mention that Elsa is attractive.
“Shall we?”
As Elsa leads her out of the planetarium, Anna can’t help but glance at her backside. This woman is insanely beautiful. Her hips sway as she walks confidently in black stilettos, and all Anna can think about is how she has legs for days.
So caught up in Elsa is she that Anna doesn’t realize they’ve made their way to a table where Elsa is offering to get her another coffee from a disposable coffee container. Elsa tilts her head and lifts an eyebrow curiously.
“Earth to Anna.”
“Hm?” Anna’s eyes focus on Elsa’s cool blue eyes that definitely match her blouse. Anna glances down at it again. Yep, they match. Anna wonders what it’d be like to unbutton that blouse and bites her lip as she imagines the pale skin beneath it.
“I asked if you’d like another coffee. I imagine that one is too cold to drink by now,” Elsa nods her head toward the cup in Anna’s hand.
Anna looks down at the cup. “Oh, yeah. Please,” she smiles and walks to the trash can to dispose of her old cup.
As Elsa pours them both steaming cups of mediocre coffee, Anna tries to think of something more to say.
“This place has money. I’m surprised they can’t spring for something better than a cardboard container of coffee.” Anna mentally slaps herself for saying the first thing that came to her mind.
Elsa hands Anna a cup with a smile before . “Maybe they need a barista on staff.”
“Yes, exactly! All jobs should have baristas on staff. Did you know that Disney has baristas on staff at their animation studios?” Anna grins. Disney is her favorite subject.
“Really?” Elsa smiles back.
Anna takes a sip of her coffee and makes a disgusted face. “Uh huh,” she says as she grabs two packets of sugar to put in her drink. “If you watch the credits at the end of every movie, they mention their names. They’re just baristas, but they have film credits!”
“That’s very cool,” Elsa says. “Do you-”
“Elsa, there you are,” a middle-aged man walks up to them with a jovial smile and crows feet hiding behind thick-rimmed glasses. “Sorry to interrupt,” he says acknowledging Anna.
Anna nods. She knows this is the CEO of the museum. She met him during her last interview, but she can’t remember his name.
“It’s good to see you again, Frank,” Elsa smiles and shakes his hand. Anna notices that her smile is tighter; it doesn’t reach her eyes like her previous smiles have.
“Likewise. Is orientation almost over? We’re ready to have you upstairs in your new office crunching numbers.”
Elsa blushes and looks embarrassed. “About another hour."
“Surely we can get you out of it,” Frank chuckles. “After all, no one knows the Frost Museum like the Frost family.”
Anna’s mouth hangs open. Elsa is Elsa Frost? Related to the museum’s Frost family? Her name is literally on the building! Suddenly she feels very out of her league. Elsa is clearly a big deal, whereas she is just a new janitor. What’s more is that her best friend Kristoff got her this job after another guy quit suddenly, so she really wasn’t even a choice. They needed to fill the spot quickly, and Anna was qualified enough. As qualified as a college drop-out needs to be for manual labor.
Anna realizes she is zoned out when Elsa turns back to her with an apologetic look on her face.
“Sorry about that, Anna. You were saying?”
“Hm?” Anna looks at her. “Oh, umm… nothing. Never mind. I better go back and grab my seat.” She hurriedly leaves Elsa staring at her back.
Back in her seat, Anna covers her eyes with her hand and leans over. “Shit, shit, shit. Anna, what are you thinking? She’s so clearly out of your league. She’d never be interested in you.”
For the rest of the orientation, Anna thinks of all of the fancy parties Elsa must go to on the regular. She imagines Elsa lives in a mansion on Star Island and is probably a VIP at all the best clubs. She probably has a rich boyfriend named Hans or Alfred or maybe Charles Van Buckingham III. And he takes her on trips to London and Paris and Fiji. He gets to see Elsa in a bikini; not Anna. Never Anna.
When the small group of new employees is finally dismissed, Anna does not dare look at Elsa. She leaves the planetarium quickly and practically runs to the engineering department where Kristoff is monitoring the water flow to the aquarium’s tanks.
“Hey, there she is,” he grins. “How was it?”
“Awful,” Anna sits in a chair next to him and takes a look at his computer. “Have you heard of Elsa Frost?”
“Yeah, HR sent an all staff email out letting us know she’d be joining the staff as the new head of finance. She’s apparently super smart and hot as fuck.”
Anna snorts before groaning. “I made a complete fool out of myself in front of her.” She recounts being caught sleeping, nerding out about Disney, and feeling like nothing next to the blonde woman.
“Anna, you’re not nothing,” Kristoff says with a frown.
“I am compared to her, Kris. She’s… she probably has a million college degrees, and I don’t have any.”
“That does not make you nothing.”
Anna sighs and stands. “It doesn’t even matter. She probably has an equally hot as fuck boyfriend, and they live in the lap of luxury.”
“Anna-”
“I gotta go see my new boss. Can you show me where maintenance is? I kinda forgot.”
Kristoff gets up. “Okay, but don’t put yourself down, Anna. Any woman would be lucky to have you.”
The next day, Anna gets a full tour of the facility. Around lunch, she finds herself on the fifth floor cleaning the administrative offices. Poking her head into an empty office, she determines that the coast is clear to empty the trash.
She rounds the desk and searches for a trash can but can’t find one. Pursing her lips, she mutters, “Come out, come out, wherever you are, trash can.” She turns around and faces a wall where multiple diplomas hang. She sucks in air as she realizes whose office she is in.
“Oh, hi, Anna,” Elsa says from the doorway, causing Anna to jump and turn around.
“Uhh, hi. Sorry, I was just… “ Anna swallows. “I was looking for your trash.”
“Oh, well, I haven’t really made any yet, but if you come back in half an hour, I will.” Elsa smiles that smile that seems to be reserved for Anna as she holds up a container.
“Yeah… I can do that. Enjoy your lunch…” Anna starts to walk out only to come face-to-face with Elsa, who has not left the doorway.
Under the blue-eyed gaze, Anna feels small, and it isn’t just because Elsa is wearing another pair of stilettos. Navy this time, to match a silk navy button-up shirt under a white suit.
“Excuse me,” Anna mumbles to the ground.
“Anna, did I do something yesterday?”
Anna whips her head up to discover that Elsa is biting her bottom lip.
“What? No! No,” Anna shakes her head. “No, you didn’t.”
Elsa can’t look at her now as she lets out a breath. Her shoulders, which Anna realizes were tense, seem to relax.
“Okay. It felt like I did when you felt suddenly during the break, and then when you left orientation really fast,” Elsa says quietly. “If I did, I’m sorry.”
Anna feels horrible now. “No, Elsa, please. You don’t have anything to be sorry about. I just wanted to go say hi to my friend Kristoff. He works in engineering.”
“Oh,” Elsa says. “Well, in that case…” She closes her eyes for a moment before opening them and looking directly at Anna. “Would you like to go get a coffee one day this week?”
Anna’s mouth drops open. Elsa Frost, who has a business degree and a master’s in finance, wants to get coffee with her? “Coffee? With me?”
“Yes. If you want,” Elsa chews her bottom lip again, and Anna decides that is endearing even if it does seem to stem from Elsa being nervous.
“I want!” Anna says a little too cheerfully. She tells herself to tone it down. “I mean, yes. I would love to.”
Anna clocks out and turns to her best friend. “She is so far out of my league, Kristoff.”
“But she wants to get coffee with you. That’s something,” he cocks his head and gives her a haughty look.
“I need to wow her, Kris. I need her to know that I’m smart too.”
“You are smart, Anna. You don’t need to prove that to her or to anyone,” Kristoff says seriously.
“Yeah, but this is Elsa Frost we’re talking about. I need to go into this coffee date ready to dazzle her with everything I know."
Kristoff sighs. “Anna, just be yourself. I’m sure that’s why she asked you out for coffee anyway.”
“Maybe, but I still gotta be prepared. But anyway, I gotta go. I’ll see you later,” she grins and walks to her used Toyota Camry. If she’s going to go on a date- is it even a real date?- with Elsa, she needs to start studying up on potential topics.
That evening, Anna watches a National Geographic documentary on Disney+ that succeeds in putting her to sleep half an hour in.
Elsa’s work keeps her busy for the rest of the week, but they make a plan to meet at the Starbucks on Biscayne Boulevard on Saturday afternoon.
Rain pours as Anna arrives early with index cards ready. She stayed up Friday night taking notes after doing some googling on Elsa and finding an old college newspaper interview in which she mentioned liking Egyptian history.
She places her order, grabs her coffee when a barista calls out her name, and sits down at a table, waiting nervously.
Less than five minutes pass before Elsa walks in and shakes off the rain. Anna gazes at her as she takes off a long raincoat and brushes her hand through her damp bangs. Then Elsa looks around for her.
She waves and calls out, “Elsa, over here."
With a grin that could light up the world, Elsa makes her way over to Anna. “Hi,” she says breathlessly.
“Hi,” Anna smiles back. “I already got a coffee, but if you want something, I can get it for you.”
Elsa shakes her head. “No need. I can grab it. I’m not really in the mood for coffee today. When it rains, that means hot chocolate.”
Anna laughs. “I should have waited for you then. I love hot chocolate.”
“It’s my favorite,” Elsa grins and drapes her raincoat on the back of her chair. “I’ll be right back. Don’t leave.”
“I won’t.”
When Elsa seemingly makes sure Anna won’t leave, she walks up to the counter, giving Anna time to watch her.
Elsa’s demeanor changes as she steps up to the barista. Anna remembers when Frank came by to talk to her on their first day. It seems that Elsa isn’t very comfortable in social situations. That much is confirmed when Elsa lets out a deep breath when she is done paying for her drink. And, thinking back on their week, Anna realizes that Elsa only ate lunch in her office. She knows because she picked up Elsa’s trash every afternoon, and there was always an empty container in the bin. Anna wonders how a super brilliant finance lady could be introverted. Don’t you have to do projects and give presentations and stuff in college? Surely, Elsa realizes that she has nothing to worry about with Anna. She’s clearly the more classy, educated one. Anna is the dumb one who has to worry about making a good impression.
When Elsa returns, hot chocolate in hand, Anna shakes herself out of her thoughts.
“So,” Elsa sits down. “Did you have a good first week?”
“I guess,” Anna replies. “It’s not hard work.”
Elsa tilts her head. “It’s not? I saw you lifting a giant bag of trash into the dumpster. It must have been heavy.”
Anna shrugs.
“Well, I couldn’t do it.” Elsa smiles and lifts up her arm, flexing it. “I’m not exactly the strongest person.”
“It’s not that hard to do,” Anna repeats. “It doesn’t take a brain to do it.”
Elsa’s face falls slightly at the bitter response. “Oh.”
Anna winces and mentally berates herself for being stupid. “Sorry. I just mean that the work you do is probably more exciting.”
“I suppose,” Elsa smiles briefly. “Numbers make sense to me.”
Seeing an opportunity to turn the conversation around, Anna looks down at her index card quickly. “Did you know that the ancient Egyptians had a decimal system using seven different symbols?”
Elsa looks confused for a minute. “I…”
“And the symbol for 100,000 was a frog or a tadpole,” Anna continues. “That’s kinda funny, isn’t it?”
“It is,” Elsa takes a sip of her hot chocolate. “I used to have a pet frog.”
“That’s cool,” Anna says. “But did you know that the Egyptians’ symbol for 1000 was a lotus plant?”
“Anna-”
“And the symbol for 10,000 was a finger.” Anna holds up her index finger. “How weird is that? You’d think they’d use their fingers for one through ten, but nope. They used strokes for that. So one stroke was for the number one and two strokes was for two, and three stokes for three, an-”
“Anna,” Elsa interrupts with a soft smile. “That’s all fascinating, but I’d really like to get to know you.”
“Oh,” Anna blushes. “What do you want to know?”
“Anything. Did you grow up in Miami?”
Anna shakes her head. “I’m originally from Atlanta. I’m surprised you couldn’t tell. Everyone usually tells me that I have a distinctly Georgian accent.”
Elsa giggles. “I can hear it now; but, honestly, I didn’t pick up on it before."
“Well, I have lived here for the last ten years. My parents moved here for work. What about you? I mean… you are probably from here, right? Since your uncle and aunt are, ya know, the Frosts.”
“I did grow up here, but I moved away for college. Decided I needed to experience proper seasons so I went up north to Harvard. What about you? Where did you go to college?”
Anna’s face falls as she shifts in her seat. “I didn’t go.” It isn’t a total lie, but it’s easier to say than “I dropped out after half a semester.”
Elsa’s eyes widen for a second before she says, “That’s okay. It isn’t for everyone.”
“You don’t have to say that,” Anna says. “I know that’s what educated people say when they meet people like me. You try to make us feel better, but like… it doesn’t.”
“Anna, I’m sorry,” Elsa says softly. “I didn’t mean…”
“You don’t know what it’s like. Employers ask me why I don’t have a degree, and I always have to justify myself.”
Elsa remains silent as Anna continues.
“And then people like you exist.”
“People like me?”
“Super smart, sexy CEOs who have everything and couldn’t possibly see anything in a college drop-out.” Anna replays the sentence in her head and nearly groans at having said “sexy.”
Elsa looks like she’s on the verge of tears as she all but whispers, “Anna, I’m sorry that you think that, but I… I am very interested in you.” Her arms come up and wrap around her abdomen. “I’m sorry I brought school up; I was just trying to get to know you better.”
“Well now you know that I’m not good enough for you,” Anna mutters.
Elsa’s lip quivers, and she shakes her head. “No, I don’t think that."
“I can’t offer you anything beyond picking up your trash.”
“No, Anna.” A single tear falls down Elsa’s cheek and she quickly wipes it away.
“This was a mistake,” Anna sighs and pushes back her chair. “You deserve more than me.”
Anna hates herself for leaving Elsa at that table in Starbucks, but she knows that Elsa is better off without her.
Over the next couple of weeks, Elsa is noticeably gone from her office when Anna arrives to take the trash out. She gets it though. After getting home and thinking about how badly she messed up, Anna feels like she deserves Elsa’s silent treatment. She wouldn’t want to see herself either if she treated herself that poorly.
Even Kristoff told her she was an idiot. In fact, he reminds her daily when she visits him to let him know that she still hasn’t seen Elsa in her office.
“What am I going to do, Kris? How can I fix this?” Anna says into her hands one afternoon as she sits in a chair in the engineering room.
“For starters, you could have a little more self respect, Anna,” he says bluntly. “I know you have confidence and charisma, and you’re brave and blunt. But when it comes to this, you’re so damn afraid that people are going to judge you for not having a college degree. And it sounds like Elsa really didn’t care.”
“I know, but I fucked it up so badly. I let it get to me. I mean, you’ve seen her; you know. She’s pretty and smart, and how can I compare?”
“Jesus Christ, Anna, you’re pretty and smart too,” he says brusquely, as though the tone of his voice will finally drive the point home. “You are very intelligent; you just don’t ever give yourself any credit.”
“It’s… hard to,” Anna admits. “I feel like not getting my degree is this big weight on my shoulders, and I just feel like I’ll never amount to anything.”
“Amounting to anything isn’t limited to a college degree. I’d say having a loving partner and friends amounts to something. I’d say that loving yourself amounts to something.”
“I know, I know. Easier said than done though. And Elsa… I’ve already fucked things up with her,” Anna sighs.
“Do you really think that?” Kristoff asks, eyeing the newest engineering department guest that stands behind Anna.
“Obviously. I mean, I get it. I made her cry on our first date, if it even was a date. Would you give me a second chance if I made you cry?”
Kristoff considers his answer for a moment. “I would, provided that you apologized big time and promised to have more faith in yourself.”
Anna rolls her eyes. “Yeah, okay, but it doesn’t matter since I haven’t even seen her since that day.”
A soft cough from behind her causes Anna to freeze in her chair. She turns slowly, and her eyes widen when she comes face to face with Elsa.
Elsa looks slightly terrified and definitely vulnerable as she licks her bottom lip. “Did you know that I don’t care about whether you have a degree? That I saw you that morning and instantly knew I needed to get to know you? Numbers have always been my thing, but I was hoping… am hoping still… that you might be my thing. Sorry that sounded weird, but I’m not good with people normally. I usually talk too fast and don’t make sense, which I would have told you at Starbucks, but I didn’t get a chance. I just… want to get to know you, Anna. Please, let me have the chance.”
Anna opens and closes her mouth for a couple of minutes before she stands up. “I’m sorry, Elsa. For everything. I’d love to get to know you.”

History
They all told him he got married too young.
But he’d always been a hopeless romantic at heart, and he believed in the fairytale that was marrying your high school sweetheart. He believed in love at first sight.
And he could regret it, now, were he a different man. He could regret being wrong, or those who told him being ‘right’, but he doesn’t and he isn’t. Because though the marriage didn’t last, there can be no such thing as ‘I told you so’s when from that wedlock came his beautiful daughter Sasha, who could never be considered anything other than the bright spot in his life. She could never be a mistake, or a mishap or a consequence.
She was the very reason getting married at nineteen had been the best decision he’d ever made.
And his marriage hadn’t been all terrible, either. They’d had six very happy years together, and much like anything else in life, it was a learning experience. A growing opportunity for them both. Eliza had been more than his first; she’d been his best friend, and she’d helped to shape him into the man he is proud to be today. Though the romance between them fizzled, both of them having changed too much since their teenage years (oh, how they seemed to feed into the cliche) they parted on as good of terms as anyone going through divorce could ask for and continued to raise Sasha to the best of their collaborative ability.
When Eliza remarried a few years later, it drove a further rift into her and Cameron’s relationship, but though there was the undeniable tension and competition between Cameron and Eliza’s new hubby, Nolan, Cameron’s relationship with his daughter remained more or less the same.
At first, anyway. But over the years, what changed wasn’t Cameron and Sasha’s relationship, but rather Sasha’s relationship with her mother. Eliza became swept up in the exotic promises her new husband gave her—compared to the little-house-on-the-farm experience she’d had with Cameron (both having grown up in small towns with large acreage of farmland), Nolan and his business guru’s salary offered her a life of luxury she’d never known she’d wanted. He’d sweep her away on a whim to Paris or Rome or Fiji, and leave Cameron to take care of Sasha for weeks on end, sometimes with very little notice.
Eliza became neglectful and careless in the way she relied on Cameron to make it easy for her and her new lifestyle. And it’s not like Cameron would have ever turned her down–he loved Sasha too much, would have done anything for her. But he grew angry with Eliza. Sasha needed a reliable mother figure too, and though he was happy to be with her every minute of everyday for the rest of his life, he knew he could only offer so much. Nothing would replace the lack of her mother in her life–especially one that flitted in and out so frivolously.
It was this that had him researching the protocol into obtaining full custody. He’d begun saving, pulling together his funds for the lawsuit that would surely come, but it was a risk he was willing to take for the sake of his daughter’s best interest.
He never wound up taking it, however, because when D-Day hit, Eliza was somewhere in Thailand and Cameron and Sasha were left with nothing but each other.
Cameron Today
Cameron was born and raised in Iowa, where he became a University English professor. After D-Day, with Sasha at his hip, he headed for Colony 11 at the first whisper of its rising. Wasteland clans were no place for a nine year old girl, and so structure and stability was the first thing Cameron sought out for her sake.
Naturally, officials brought him on as a teacher to help preserve the knowledge and language skills of what would become the new-post-apocalyptic generation. But his working-man’s build from his many years of farming crops and taking care of his family’s land as a teen, had him shoehorned into a position in Colony security as well.
It was almost laughably typical, actually, that he was ‘type-casted’ based off his physique, but he supposed he couldn’t blame them for it, in these desperate times. And he couldn’t really complain, anyway, because it brought more variety in his life, teaching a couple times a week and spending the rest patrolling the grounds while Sasha was in classes or the child care program. For a man who enjoyed nature and being outdoors as much as he did, it was nice to not be stuck in a classroom all day, everyday.
Come the year of the New Wave, Cameron was asked to transfer overseas to help with the balance and reorganization of the various transfers being made, and since he’d be moving to a smaller, more relaxed Colony which would make for a better environment for his daughter, he was rather happy to oblige.
Today, Cameron lives with the dread of waking up one day and finding Sasha with symptoms of infection. It would have been a challenging transition to take her through before the rise of the Reformists, but now ‘difficult’ would be the least of his worries. The world was sadly becoming dangerous for the Infected population, and he can only pray he never has to worry about that with Sasha.

„There‘s one condition. You have to promise to be our and only our princess from now on. What do you think?“
─────────────────────
Bodies sway from side to side in sensual ways while the club consumes everyone in its rhythm. You yourself already lost track in time by rolling your hips to the music not seeing or hearing anything else since you entered the dancefloor. After some time you decide to get to the bar for a refreshment and while waiting you start to let your eyes roam around the club. In one of the booths you find your best friend being occupied in a hot make out session with a girl.
You suppress the smile that is urging to grow on your face and thank the bartender when he hands you your drink. That’s really what you needed. You would go back dancing after you finish your drink and while devouring the toxic liquid you spend the time with watching the wasted people in this club called ‚Wonderland‘.
Your gaze stops at a booth section right across from you. You tense when you suddenly feel a pair of eyes land on your form and quickly look down at your hands that were playing with your glass. Your were caught staring.
Well, technically you didn’t even know what you were looking at or more precisely who. The only thing you were able to catch a slight glimpse at were two boys or men sitting and watching the scene, too.
You were growing impatient. So eventually you dare to peek again into the direction only to find one of the men missing. Since the light play of the club slows down for another song the man‘s figure starts to be illuminated in unsteady intervals. But it is enough to see him slightly smirk and raise one eyebrow in a provocating way daring you to check him out any longer.
„Princess wanna‘ join us?“
You startle so hard at the silk voice and minty breath next to your face you accidentally spill some of the liquid out of your glass to the ground. Turning around you are met with one of the probably most handsome man you’ve ever seen. When your eyes linger a little bit too long on his face and icy white hair he leans in again and breathes down your neck to repeat his suggestion.
You already understood the first time but were too nervous to say anything to a beautiful man like him.
He smiles at you and lightly turns his head to the said booth with the other man waiting who watches the amusing scene with high interest.
After mindlessly nodding at him he grabs you by your waist and carefully guides you away from the crowd and up to the booth where his partner is eagerly waiting.
„My, my. What a diamond you brought us, Joong!“
The man in the booth makes place for the two of you and you are sit down between them the man holding you not letting go of your waist in the process.
„Tell me princess, what’s your name?“
The man hands you a drink and patiently waits for your answer. The other one takes this as an opportunity to shamelessly let his gaze roam over your petite form and stops at your hand that tries to pull down your short dress a little bit.
Sweet.
The man licks his lips at the sight and fights down the urge to fuck you right here in his club where all the people can see you. Your sweetness just emphasizes your pure appearance even more.
„Y/N. That’s my name.“ You shyly look to the ground not being able to hold eye contact with one of these godly men more than a second.
„Mh, what a beautiful name for a gorgeous girl like you. Don’t you think, San?“
„It is. But I think princess suits you the best.“
Your heart makes a beat when the man named San takes your small face between his smooth thumb and index finger turning it to face him.
His eyes turn into crescents and dimples adore his features when he shoots you an intoxicating sweet smile. You only stare in awe at him taking in his beauty. Surprisingly you like his feathery touches on your skin that make funny things to your tummy.
„Is it ok if we call you princess, Y/N?“
Hong Joong steals your attention from San when he pushes you back a little bit causing you to end in his embrace.
„Y-yes, it’s okay.“
Both men smile at you and you sip from your drink trying to calm down a little bit. It wasn’t your first time talking to older men but definitely the first flirting with two at the same time. Well, at least you thought they were both interested in you regarding their littles touches and gazes.
„You are really cute. How old are you, Y/Nah?“
„Actually, my 18th birthday was just a few weeks ago.“
You were afraid to disappoint them with your age but you liked sincerity so you decided to tell the truth.
„Oh, you are really a young princess. Only 18, that’s so precious!“ San can’t hold back his happiness about your age and pokes your little cheek at your confession earning him a sweet giggle out of your mouth.
„Princess, we are only a few years older than you. And you’re not a minor anymore. So everything’s good, right?“
„Yes, I think so...“
San is still grinning at you while Hong Joong starts to draw little circles over your exposed thigh with his finger tips. You feel the area he manages to reach form goosebumps and you suddenly shiver at his actions. He seems to notice your little shaking and stops to lay his hand flat on your tight flesh.
Again you bring the glass up to your lips emptying it with on swift move. The boys watch you eagerly but San‘s sending you a questioning look when you grimace because of the strong alcohol. With a flick of his fingers immediately a waiter appears and the boy with the mullet whispers something to him. The waiter bows to San and practically flys to the bar.
Hong Joong chuckles a bit at your cuteness and low level of drinking ability and takes a strand of your hair between his thin fingers to guide it back behind your ears. You cannot concentrate on anything if he’s touching you constantly. So you have to try hard to hear what San says when the waiter comes back with a bottle of ice cold Fiji water.
„Little girls shouldn’t drink too much.“
He winks at you and gestures for you to drink up.
„Oh, I am good. But thank you!“
„It wasn’t a question, princess.“
Something in his voice tells you he wouldn’t take a no again and you start to drink the water feeling a relief in your system. Hong Joong kisses your hair as a reward for your obedience but being not used to the proximity yet you flinch a little bit leaving the man pouting at you.
„I am sorry. Didn’t want to make you feel uncomfortable.“
„No, it’s not... I mean there are still many people here...“
San and Hong Joong literally coo at your pure statement. San takes your hand into his stroking it in lovely motions.
„You are absolutely right. Do you wanna‘ come with us to our place?“
Do you? You don’t know these handsome strangers and they could try to take advantage of you as soon as there were no witnesses.
They recognize you taking time and Hong Joong knows the more you rethink it the possibility of you rejecting them grows. With a soft move he takes away his warm and comfortable arm around your form and leaves you cold. San understands and distances himself a little bit, too.
„Or we can call a cab for you, Y/N?“
Their technique seems to work when you practically whimper at the loss of touch. It brings you out of your thoughts and before you can think straight you stop them.
„No, I really want to come with you!“
Both men hide their amusement and this time San takes your form in his arm and guides you outside.
After a twenty minute trip you arrive in front of a grand mansion. Hong Joong opens the door for you and takes your hand. All this time both males watch your reactions. When you ask them if they were rich or something San only smiles following you and Hong Joong inside their house.
Of course they were rich. They nearly controlled the whole country. But you didn’t need to know that at this moment.
To say you are impressed would be an understatement. You never have seen such luxury before in your life.
You take back your hand out of Hong Joong‘s grasp and start to take in your surroundings. Spinning around in the entry area you watch every little detail of the richness.
„Please tell me about your employment. I think I am going to change my major!“
Both men heartly laugh at your suggestion. You wouldn’t want to if you knew.
„You’re in college, princess?“
San emerged from behind and embraces your form in a tight back hug leaning his face in your shoulder. He starts to usher you forward and you see the livingroom nearing.
„Yes, I am studying to become a teacher!“
„Oh, one day you will be the perfect mommy.“
That was a little bit strange but you humm at it nervertheless.
The three of you make yourselves comfortable on the big couch in their living room and start to make a little bit small talk. After some time you start to come out of your shell and tell them a lot about yourself and your hobbies.
They ask you more and more questions and you realize that you technically don’t know anything about them to this point.
„So, what are you doing for a living? I mean, who can afford such a grand palace?“
As soon as the question leaves your mouth Hong Joong‘s smile falters a little bit and San‘s lips seem to twitch for only a second. You really were a curious princess. After Hong Joong composes himself he motions for you to come to him and sit down in his lap. You debate with yourself but as excitement fills your body at the thought of feeling him under you your body reacts on his own. You find yourself sitting in the boy‘s lap like a little girl your arms around his neck to hold onto him. His face nears your own and you are brave enough to hold the eye don’t as he caresses your cheeks with his hands.
„That’s a good girl. You know, what we do isn’t quite something for princesses to know. But I can tell you that we are willing to fulfill every wish of yours.“
„Every wish?“
There is indeed something you wish for as you feel your face heat up at his soothing touches. You feel your arousal forming and your panties growing wet from it.
But why aren’t they answering your question. As if San seems to recognize your uncertainty again he comes over to the two of you and sits down next to Hong Joong your back facing him. Suddenly he embraces your waist from behind and pushes away your hair to give him a better access to your smooth neck.
You shudder when he presses down an open mouthed kiss to your shoulder causing you to only lean more into the boy.
„Wait. Why me? And what do you want in return?“
They are both taken back by your sharpness but like it. Hong Joong chuckles at you and grabs your neck to move your face right in front of his.
„Don’t you know how hard you made us with your sinful movements on the dancefloor?“
His gaze burns at you with enormous lust and it takes everything in you to not moan at loud.
„I didn’t know...“
„Of course. That’s why I am telling you now. Your body practically screamed for us to take care of you, princess.“
You don’t know what to say anymore. His words alone could make you cum undone right at this moment. You clench your tighs together but Hong Joong seems to notice and before you can react he pushes his hand between your legs and holds your princess part in one hand.
You try to get away from him only to have San holding you in place from behind.
„Ohhh...“
„There‘s one condition. You have to promise to be our and only our princess from now on. What do you think?“
He adds some pressure with his flat hand onto your clit and you swear stars are forming in front of your eyes.
„Y-yes! I promise!“
San chuckles behind you. „What do you promise? Say ,I promise to be only Hong Joong‘s and San‘s princess from now on!‘ Do it!“
„I promise to be only Hong Joong‘s and San‘s princess from now on!“
„Good girl.“ San purrs into your ear and suddenly both boys let go of you leaving you a whimpering mess on the couch. They stand up and watch from above how you are clenching around and biting your lip in a seductive manner.
San and Hong Joong exchange quick glances and San takes you up in bridal style and the three of you go upstairs to a equally luxurious bedroom. He carefully puts you down on the fluffy blankets and kisses his way down to your feet until he frees you from your stilettos.
Hong Joong emerges from another room and puts something into his pocket when he sees your already tired gaze. He sits down beside you onto the bed and watches as San professionally undresses you in front of the two mafia leaders.
When you are totally naked San takes in your breathtaking body sprayed out all vulnerable on the bed ready to be devoured like a dessert. His bulge is growing in his pants at the sight and creates a painful urge to free himself of his clothes, too. But he knows they want to prepare you first.
You shiver at the coldness your exposed body is met with and thank Hong Joong when he cradles behind you and positions you between his legs back facing him. He spreads your legs wide for San who needs to pay attention to not drool at the sight of your beautiful pink pussy. San takes a hold of himself and emerges your form to kiss your parted lips.
„You smell so wonderful princess. Like a flower that’s only blooming for us.“
You whimper as Hong Joong breathes in the scent of your hair and neck and flinch when he starts to sink his teeth into your pulse point sending you to utopia. You moan out loud closing your eyes and fully lean into the man behind you giving him better access.
San takes this chance and lunches downwards to plunge his tongue as deep as he can into your entrance.
„Fuck! What are y-“
You look at the brown haired boy between your legs and how his demeanor changed into something like a possessive demon the way he tries to reach and taste every inch of your slit.
Soon the overwhelming sensation of being pleased by two man at the same time sends you over the edge. Your legs are starting to tremble terribly when you feel your orgasm starting to build from deep within you. San notices and adds a finger into your pussy. He starts to penetrate your g-spot in rhythmic motions and sucks at your clit like his life depended on it.
„There you go princess! Cum for us!“
„Nghaa... please!“
„Do it you little slut!“
Hong Joong starts to lightly choke you and suddenly your whole body is consumed by a mindblowing orgasm that rattles your whole being.
„SAN! Fuck! Oh my gosh!“
You whimper out loud when he rides you through your explosion with his fingers and slowly takes them out when you fall limb in Hong Joong‘s arms.
You merely make out San‘s glistening smile only recognizing that his whole chin is plastered in your wet cum. He draws big circles on your thighs while Hong Jong kisses your face and hair helping you to calm down from the shaking event.
„Do you want to continue princess?“
Can you? You really feel worn out but seeing the two boys watching you with excited eyes you want to know what else they wanted to do with you.
You try to sit down straight in front of them and grab Hong Joong by his collar to guide him into a meaningful kiss. You play with his tongue and dominate his mouth causing him to smirk into the kiss. He seems to like that so you add it to your mental notes.
San watches the hot make out session and undresses himself quickly. When he’s fully naked he takes his dick into one hand and starts to stroke it while Hong Joong grabs your tits and plays with your nipples causing you to slightly flinch. Next the white haired boy guides you to the edge of the bed where San is standing.
You took in the boy’s naked glory and you only feel yourself getting hotter at the sight. Oh how badly you want to roam your hands over his defined abs and kiss each pack of his. Your gaze drifts down to his dick right in front of your face. He’s thick and veiny and you start to wonder if you would be able to feel every unevenness of his dick with your walls.
San seems to grow impatient and whimpers lightly to gain your attention. You make up for the waiting by starting a full blow to his cock earning a cry from the boy.
„So pretty. My little princess looks so hot with her lips around my dick. Oh fuck. Yes!“
You feel a pool of wetness building under your slit at his praising words and grab a hold of his tensed buttocks to push him further into you.
„Shit, princess!“
San growls at every blow you give him and closes his eyes when you hit the back of your wet cavern. Same time Hong Joong gets rid of his clothes and makes himself comfortable on the bed watching your ass from behind swaying up and down in the process of pleasuring the other gangster.
As San engulfs into the feeling of his cock hitting your throat he holds your head in place and starts to deepthroat you. You immediately gag at the deep intrusion and try to stop the man by pushing him back by his abdomen. You only whimper out before San recognizes your discomfort and instantly pulls out. He quickly checks your face.
„Shit, I am sorry princess. I got carried away.“
„No, please don’t be. I am just not good in deepthroating... But I will practice!“ Both boys have to laugh at your cuteness and San clears your drool with his thumb.
„Baby, you don’t have to practice anything. You have to promise us to always be honest if you feel uncomfortable. Is that clear?“
Hong Joong pets your back while showing you a comforting smile.
„Ok, I promise. But what if I don’t want you to stop?“ Both men are shocked by your statement.
„Then, maybe we should think about a safe word?“
„That’s a good idea! What about... wonderland?“
„Oh, wonderland? Why tho?“
„Because it’s the place where we met for the first time.“ After thinking about it for a moment the two boys nodded at you.
„Then it’s wonderland!“ San clapped into his hands and decided to continue by engulfing you into a kiss again. Meanwhile Hong Joong finds the item in the pocket of his trousers that are laying on the ground next to the bed. San turns you around and positions you in front of Hong Joong on all fours.
Hong Joong’s penis was not as bag as San’s one but beautiful nevertheless. San doesn’t give you much time and pushes your head down on to his friend‘s dick and gets back behind you.
Hong Joong lightly pulls at your hair while his eyes roll back at you in front of him. How could such a pure being have a sinful body and lips like this?
„P-princess. This isn’t your first time you’re doing this. Am I right?“
You stop blowing him and look into his dilated eyes.
„What do you think?“
You continue to take him in as deep as it fits causing the gangster to throw his head back into the cushions.
You feel San behind you kissing your butt stroking it from time to time to encourage you. Suddenly Hong Joong stops you and hands San the object he was hiding under a cushion.
„Huh?“
„Princess, are we allowed to pleasure you through every pretty hole of yours?“
As soon as you understood what he meant San already had his tongue on your other entrance igniting a deep moan out of you. You feel your legs giving out when he starts to lick his way from your cunt to your asshole.
„I-I will try! Fuck!“
Hong Joong sucks your bottom lip into his mouth and starts to swirl your tongues. Moans and wet noises fill the room and you don’t know if you could ever be pleasured better again by another man.
As soon as San feels your entrance slowly becoming soft and squashy he tries to insert one finger into the hole. As he emerges in your virgin part you can only growl into Hong Joong‘s mouth who isn’t letting go of you.
San starts to pump his finger in and out of you so you can adjust to the new sensation. After some time he pushes in another finger and you mewl out at the stretching feeling. Suddenly his fingers are pulled out and your entrance is met with something cold and synthetic.
You make a move to look behind what he is planning to do but Hong Joong still holds you in place kissing you more ravishingly than before. And your cry out when San pushes a pink buttplug into your back hole.
„Fuck! Feels .. soo ... goooddmnfnf!“
Hong Joong smirks into your mouth and your cries and whimpers shake his whole body and stop at his erection that is urging him to stroke himself at the feeling.
San continues to fuck you with the toy and stops for a second to spit onto it to make the process easier.
„How does that feel princess? Do you like it? Do you want me to fuck your sweet little hole with my own dick?“
„P-please! Yes!“
San growls at your needy answer and takes out the buttplug. Hong Joong stops kissing you leaving your lips red and bruised because of the long attack.
San lays down on the bed and Hong Joong positions you onto San your back facing the mullet boy‘s face.
„Take your time baby. This dick is much bigger than the buttplug.“
San holds your hips in a helping manner while you steady yourself on Hong Joong‘s shoulders. Painfully slow you guide yourself down onto San‘s standing erection the boy positioning his dick so he can enter you easier.
And god does it feel amazing. Your moth forms into a silent cry while you take him in fully. Hong Joong watches the scene with amazement and San curses out incoherent words at the tightness of your butthole.
„Fucking shit!“
The first pushes feel awkward although San and Hong Joong pull you up and down onto the cock very slow. After some adjusting you feel the amazing sensation of the anal experience and close your eyes to get lost in the moment. You start to push yourself down onto the boy on your own and decide the rhythm of the trusts to go quicker.
San‘s grip on your hips tighten with each thrust you are pressing down on him. Hong Joong grows impatient at the sight of his partner having all the fun alone and starts to kiss your breasts leaving markings all over the place.
„This is so good! Nghaa...“
San slowls you down and strokes your back to give you the feeling of doing well in this position. Hong Jong shares a look with San and positions his cock in front of your pussy watching your reaction with eager eyes.
„What do you think, princess? Can you take two at the some time?“
Holy shit.
„Yes! Please fill me, too, Hong Joong!“
„That’s our good little princess.“
San and Hong Joong definitely not knew you would be so obedient and into a threesome and double penetration so having you practically pleading for it shoots goosebumps over their own skin. They made the right decision in choosing you this evening.
But only after this night they could decide if they would let you live or kill you off.
Hong Joong sinks to his knees over San‘s legs and puts his cock in front of your entrance and teases the wet area with his pulsing shaft.
His eyes darken at the sight and you feel your breath getting caught in your system when he enters you painfully slow stretching out your pussy. You never felt this beautifully full before and notice San‘s and Hong Joong‘s grunts, too, when they pass eachother in your pelvis only a thin wall between the two itching dicks.
San‘s little movement under you suddenly lets you experience a rush of another accidental orgasm making the boys aware of your sensity to the situation.
You just lay limp on San‘s sweaty body after calming down everyone trying to not move a single muscle. After a few seconds Hong Joong presses his head against yours whispering encouraging words to you.
„Baby, you can do it. Just another one.“
„Mhh.“
Sloppy sounds are heard when the boys start to grind into your holes leaving you a crying mess between their bodies. As soon as they set a rhythmic pace Hong Joong digs his fingers under your knees and holds them up to deepen the contact between you and him.
You love the feeling of being fucked by the two man at the same time and grab Hong Joong‘s neck to steady yourself a little bit while their pace only quickens more. You blood is buzzing when their rhythm grows unsteady and you feel yourself becoming hotter each second.
„I-I think I am going to cum soon. San?“
„Yeah, same!“
Hong Joong presses his thumb onto your clit and starts to roughly rut his hips into your body leaving you and San in shock under him. He circles your clit aggressively and your head falls over San‘s shoulder who leans up onto his forearms.
„Fucking shit you little bitch you’re going to take all of us!“
Hong Joong‘s eyes darken and he grabs a tight hold onto one of your tits while fucking you into oblivion. You shudder at his sinful words and feel your orgasm approaching because of it.
Your vision fades to black when the third times this night waves of pleasure rush through you. The boys equally tense and with low grunts and one final push they insert their thick cum into your holes mixing it with your own.
Only strong breathing sounds are heard in the room and the trio of you are laying on the bed nuzzling into eachother. You are so worn out that you instantly fall asleep while a cozy smile adorns your face.
San and Hong Joong carefully pull out of your entrances and lay down beside you. The brown haired boy spoons you from behind and Hong Joong covers your forms with a blanket. Before closing their eyes San shoots Hong Joong an enquiring look to which the mafia leader only devilishly smiles and hums.
Seems like you passed the test.
„Sleep tight, our little princess.“

You were reeling. You didn’t know if you were more furious or hurt. After everything, after the last few weeks, therapy, the revelations, the openness between you, your tears, and struggle this was where you were. Lost. Confused.
After sitting in your office or almost an hour after the end of your FaceTime call with Chris examining the screen record of Chris’ background and the one from Ana’s picture you’d gone through every single scenario. You’d even branched out to scenarios of those scenarios and at the end of it all you’d settled on was something wasn’t right. Everything pointed to your husband being a liar, your husband playing both angles when in fact he as a low-down dirty asshole. You were reluctant to believe it especially with all you’d been through together in therapy. The emotions he’d expressed couldn’t have been faked. Only an actual sociopathic psychopath could have faked it. that possibility had you wondering if your husband was a sociopathic psychopath.
This new light on the situation didn’t help you keep focus for the day. Concentration was pointless, working was pointless. Every couple of minutes you were thinking about it again. wondering where they were right now if they were together if they were laughing together about how easy it all had been. Needless to say, you were now looking at “platonic” actions in a whole new light. You now looked at the video of them together at TIFF differently, you looked at the interviews they did together and the body language differently. You even looked at the times they’d been together when you called him while he was filming. Your insecurities were at an all-time high.
Those insecurities are what had you on a private jet bound for San Diego, two days before your scheduled trip to LA that was supposed to have you meet up with Chris. You’d followed your gut, insecurities, and fears here because you had a feeling something was up, and you refused to sit around and ignore it any longer. You’d played the dutiful wife, the wife who played the trust card. You’d played the faithful and devoted wife who did everything in her power to save and strengthen her marriage. It was time to play a different card, the stealth wife. You were going to get to the bottom of this one way or another.
“Hello?”
“I hope you’re not just going to roll over on this one.” Your mother’s voice resonated and you sighed out in the backseat of the chauffeured truck.
“Mama, for goodness sake,” you began before she cut you off.
“What would be for goodness’s sake is you putting both of them in their place, especially her. A man can be as faithful as Jesus but there will always be snakes and Jezebels slithering through the garden of Eden.”
You rolled your eyes. You didn’t have the time or patience to listen to her scripture riddles. “Mama, I don’t have time for this.”
“Do you have time for a divorce?” You almost fell out. She had the uncanny ability to take it from zero to two hundred in two seconds. This was not different. Still, she had a point.
“I will take care of it. I’m in San Diego now and I’m going to confront Chris.”
“Take a beat, I say confront her first.”
 “What?”
“Yes, both parties are equally complicit but sit with her, get a feel for her. You’ll be able to tell her intentions within the first two minutes. I’m not saying go and beat her ass off the bat. It’s what I would do, but there are ways to be tactful in a situation like this,” she suggested.
You had thought to go to her and rip out her hair then give her a nice souvenir in the form of a face scar to be used as a reminder to stay away from your husband. You’d also thought to play devil’s advocate and go behind enemy lines and assess the situation from her side. You’d left both options open and decided to go to the horse first. Hearing your mother’s thoughts, you decided to go with her plan. You’d go see the snake, Jezebel, first.

Tumblr media
Almost an hour later, you were sitting in a hotel room in front of a set table with an assortment of foods before you.  Your mind was racing but you felt strangely calm as if you were slowly gliding through the air in zero gravity. It would have been peaceful, but your heart felt heavy.
“Uriah?” Her accent was very clear. You also heard her shock and confusion. When you turned to her she had a smile on her face. She was a pretty woman. There was no lying about it. You could see why men would fall for her and her big hazel eyes, striking bone structure, plump bottom lip, and exotic accent. Thinking about that you saw what would draw him in.
You smiled widely and stood. “Ana. How are you?” She returned your smile and stepped to you with her arms out. Once before you, she threw her arms around you hugging you. It was unexpected and your first red flag.
“I’m so good. How are you? Oh my goodness I love this outfit you look amazing.” She was being overly friendly. This was a sign she was overcompensating for something. You played her game and carried in with small talk.
After a few minutes, the two of you sat down across from each other. “Chris didn’t mention you were here.”
“I know. He doesn’t know. I wanted it to be a surprise. So please don’t tell him.”
“Oh, that’s so sweet—so romantic.” Her smile slipped for a moment. You didn’t miss it. She smiled again and straightened her back coming back to being the picture of friendliness.
“I wanted to have a bit of lunch together just us girls. It’s been such a long time since we chatted. I just wanted to catch up.” You knew it was believable. You were not an amateur actress.
 “That sounds nice.”
“I remember a few things Chris mentioned that you liked. Cucumber sandwiches, dragon rolls, and that salsa from your country that you said you couldn’t live without. I hope it’s the right brand.”
Ana’s eyes roamed over the food on the table with a huge smile on her face. “Wow, he told you about all this?”
You nodded and sipped your tea, “He did. He talks about you a lot. I can see he likes you.” Ana looked at you and studied you as if she were searching for something. You suspected what she was searching for. You kept your cool.
“Yeah, we’re good friends. He’s a great man. You married a keeper.” You slowly nodded and took up one of the California Rolls before you. It was one of the two sushi products you would touch. From your example, Ana did the same and made a plate with a little of everything.
The two of you ate in silence for a few minutes. After some quiet, you chatted about the business, upcoming projects, silly stories floating around Hollywood, fashion, makeup, and travel. It all seemed normal. If you didn’t have the fact in the back of your mind that she was fucking your husband then it was possible to become friends. In another life, the two of you may have become friends. You may have been good friends.
As you spoke about trivial things, you formulated the right path to go. You couldn’t be too direct, and you couldn’t be too passive. You had to find a way to ride the line between the two.
“I hope everything is okay with your family. I heard the break Chris took was because of a family emergency,” Ana led a little over an hour into brunch.
“Yes, it was. We went through some things that had the power to break us. It was important we took the time. I wasn’t sure we still felt the same way about each other anymore.” It was true. Sometimes you had to reveal something personal to open the gates. Ana’s hand reached out for yours and rested on top in a reassuring way.
“I’m sorry. I had no idea. Do you want to talk about it?”
“No, no need. I want to distract myself. How are things with you? Anyone in your life that makes this crazy life of fame better?”
She remained quiet for a little while then toyed with the straw in her Fiji water bottle. Her eyes didn’t go back to yours though. “Things are okay. They could definitely be better. I never realized how much fame could be so lonely. You have millions of people watching you all the time. Tens of them around you but still you can feel--.”
 “Alone?”
Ana looked to you and nodded with a melancholic smile. “Yeah. I don’t expect you to understand. You have Chris.”
“He’s been pulling away for some time. It may just be our workload and our maybe we’re not the same people anymore. We might have outgrown each other. I understand.” It was a stretch but in the light of new details maybe it wasn’t. Ana watched you and you tapped into your actress side and played up everything you felt a little over two months ago.
“Oh Uriah, I’m sorry. Do you think--.” Ana paused looked down timidly then bit her bottom lip before she spoke again. “Do you think he’s having an affair?”
Bingo, you thought. Nothing you’d said since this brunch began had any path to eluding about an affair. The fact that she brought it up was suspicious. “Do you think he is? You’re with him a lot more than I am these days.”
Ana looked at you. you felt the air in the room change, her eyes got slightly darker. “How would I know that?”
You shrugged and took up a beignet. You loved that the powdered sugar just melted in your mouth.
“Wait, are you insinuating I’m having an affair with Chris?”
“I never said that Ana. Why would I even say that?”
Ana straightened her sitting position and held her head higher. You knew what was coming and you loathed it. Either you’d slipped somewhere, or she was seriously on edge about the topic.
“Oh, I see. You asked me here under false pretenses to play nice and sugar me up hoping to get me to spill something. You told me some sad story about your marriage hoping it would give you the optic of the sad victim so I could feel sorry for you. Wow. These questions weren’t you being a friend or a decent person. You were trying to find out of I’m having an affair with Chris. I can’t believe this!” She sprang to her feet and walked away from the table.
“You’re overreacting, Ana. I never accused you of anything. All I wanted to do was catch up with you.”
“Bullshit!” She rolled her eyes, turned her back to you then looked at you again.
“By you coming to me like this it shows how scared you are. Do you feel threatened by me, Uriah? Worried that Chris likes me more than you? Scared that our connection is better than yours?” She was trying to get to you, you could tell. You refused to play this game.
“Look, Ana, I’m not here to play games with you.”
“No, you’re here to see how much of a threat I am for your marriage. What you should be thinking about is do you actually have a marriage still?” She didn’t give you a chance to reply before she walked out the door slamming it behind her.
“This bitch!” She just moved her next chess piece—the knight.

When you got to Chris’ room that evening you were even angrier than you were at brunch with Ana. You should have thrown her out the fucking window instead of playing nice with her. Yes, a tactical approach was the best but a show of dominance and violence was always a good move. You hadn’t made one misstep. You didn’t take the con too far, you weren’t too passive or direct. She had always been on edge. She probably was suspicious from the moment she walked in. You knew better than anyone a guilty conscience would always see a threat even where there was none. You were a threat though. You knew now she wasn’t as innocent as she pretended to be. That made you wonder just what the fuck was going on.
According to Chris’ assistant, he was busy doing some last-minute interviews and events for Knives Out. You took advantage of the quiet and time alone by thoroughly scanning his room, especially where the backgrounds of his facetime call and her image looked identical. There was no mistaking it in person. They were the same. After you roamed around the room wondering just what the walls would say if they could talk. Would they tell you all their sorted secrets about your husband and a particularly hazel-eyed co-star? Would they speak of his fidelity and boringness or would they speak about his betrayal?
When you’d thought yourself weary, you moved on to ways to relax which included taking a long bath and feasting on room service. It was a good distraction but that was all it was—a distraction. One that you knew would end as soon as Chris got back. You would have to address the literal elephant in the room the picture.
You were so distracted by the view from the living room window and your tumultuous thoughts and feelings that you almost didn’t hear when the door opened, and Chris walked in.
“Uriah.” You looked to see him standing there dressed in perfect business casual wear with his hair perfectly tousled. You would never think he was unattractive. For a few moments, his eyes left your face and roamed over your robe-clad body and down your exposed leg. As he scanned you, he walked more into the room.
 “Hi.”
Tumblr media
“You’re not supposed to be here in San Diego. I thought we were meeting in LA.
 “I know, I just—wanted to be here.”
Chris sighed and sat in a seat across from you. you found it a little strange that he hadn’t seen you in a week and he hadn’t come over to greet you or initiate contact. As you were going to bring it up, Chris began speaking again.
“Checking up on me?” His words rubbed you the wrong way. Turning around to face him you crossed your legs not caring that they were fully exposed.
“Should I be checking on you? I wasn’t aware you needed checking up on.”
He kept eye contact with you. You could see the tight clench in his jaw and the straight line of his lips. He was annoyed.
“Did you lure Ana to lunch and accuse her of having an affair with me?”
Closing your eyes, you sighed and cracked your neck. You’d just jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. The bitch had tattled and moved her second chess piece at the same time.
“Don’t lie to me Uriah,” Chris warned through tightly clenched jaws.
“I did not accuse her of anything.”
“So, you did lure her to lunch and treated her like a homewrecker and threatened my career and name in the industry?”
 “Are you kidding me, Chris?”
“Are you kidding me, Uriah?!” He sprang to his feet like a firework shell shooting into the air. You could feel the anger coming off of him.
“I cannot believe you would do this! Why would you do this?”
“Me? Why would I do this? Why would you do this?”
“What are you talking about? What have I done Uriah?” You got off the couch and made your way to your purse for your phone. If he wanted to play the fool you would enlighten him. once you found the picture you shoved it in his face.
“What the fuck is that?” You watched him as he scanned the post then rolled his eyes.
 “It’s a post.”
“No shit it’s a post. Did you send her that sweater?”
“So what? I wasn’t going to wear it, she liked it so I gave it away.”
“And this?” You pointed to the background of the picture and then went to the still of his facetime call.
“What about this? Why does your background which is here, identically match hers?”
Chris looked at you like you were bat shit crazy as if he had no idea who you were.
“Don’t look at me like I’m crazy. What the fuck is this?”
He didn’t speak, he just stared at you.
“I’ve suppressed the urge to ask the question because of everything we’ve been through these last months but come on Chris. I can only be so complacent.”
“Ask the question, Uriah. I dare you.” It was another warning. You flared your nose and hesitated. You knew if you asked it you’d be right back where you were before therapy. The hurt on his face was evident. He looked as if he were holding back tears.
 “Ask it!”
 “Why do your backgrounds match?”
“They are hotel rooms, I’m sure they are all identical.”
“Bullshit!” You walked away from him and to the window.
“Did you come here to confront her--to confront me?” You clenched your jaw and fought back your tears.
“I wanted to see where your head was and the opportunity arose to see where hers was too,” you explained.
 “Satisfied? Was her denial enough?”
“She didn’t deny anything. She threw her cockiness around instead. Did she tell you that when she came running to you to get sympathy and create an even bigger wedge between us?”
“This isn’t about her Uriah. This is about you. I thought you trusted me. I thought we’d moved past this and had turned a page and were moving forward. I thought we were stronger.”
“I thought so too. I really tried not to come here with this. I debated it but Chris how can I look past this? If you were me, what would you have done?”
“I wouldn’t come here accusing you or your costar or fucking!”
“For the first half of our marriage you accused me of fucking Christiano! I just need you to explain this to me.”
“I have nothing to explain. This wasn’t my room. She wasn’t here.”
“So, she wasn’t in here dressed like that with you? You weren’t fucking her before this was taken?”
He didn’t speak right away. He looked disappointed. He sighed and walked away facing his back to you.
“I don’t think we’ll ever get past this.  The last two months were a waste of time. I thought we could move forward and be stronger because of the pain and the struggle but I don’t think we can.” He turned back to you in time for you to see a tear roll down his cheek.
“I never lied to you. I’m not playing you either. That picture was not taken here. She’s never been in here.” He dropped his head and wiped his tears away. “I don’t think I should be here either.”
He didn’t give you enough time to speak, he just walked out the door leaving you alone. You didn’t know what to think or believe at this point. You knew you weren’t crazy. You also knew that this bitch had shown her full hand.

If you said the word "brother" to Duo Maxwell, he'd think of the other pilots.
If you said, "no, your long-lost brother" to Duo Maxwell, he'd think of Solo and be very confused.
If you said, "no, your twin brother you were separated from at birth, and he's now working with the Preventers as a lawyer" to Duo Maxwell, he would go and punch his doppelganger.
Duo Maxwell isn't good at dealing with things, but unfortunately this particular thing isn't going to go away that easily.

"Babe, do you have to go?" David whined, and you nodded, holding back laughter as you tried to pack. David had been pouting over the fact that you and Natalie were going on a weeklong girls trip since you told him about it a few weeks ago. You were going to Fiji since David can't leave the country, and Natalie wanted to make sure that your girls trip would stay a girls trip the entire time.
"It's only for a week, bub," you said, causing David to pout more. He hated when you two weren't together. He complained anytime you went anywhere without him, even it was just running out to the store or going to get your nails done. His love language was definitely quality time and you felt bad about leaving for a week, but you also needed a girls trip.
"You know I hate it when you leave," he groaned, reaching his arms out and wrapping them around your waist and pulling you on to the bed with him. You hardly ever slept at your own place since you were always with David and he begged you to stay at his house night after night.
"Trust me, I know," you giggled, planting a kiss on his forehead. "I hate leaving you, too."
"So then don't go," David suggested.
"Not happening," you smirked, weaseling out of David's grip and returning to packing. You were probably packing way too much, but you needed options even though you would probably borrow Natalie's clothes.
"Why couldn’t you guys do a girls trip to Malibu or something? Why does it have to be Fiji?"
"So you can't come crash it, Mr. Illegal Immigrant," you teased, tossing a pair of sandals into your suitcase.
"But Fiji is so far," he grumbled. "David, you're going to be fine. I promise." He pouted again, and you gave him a quick peck.
The next morning you woke up in David's bed. You untangled yourself from him and hopped in the shower. You and Natalie had to leave for the airport at 9am, and it was already 8:20. By the time you were showered and dressed, Natalie had made breakfast but David was still asleep, even though he was driving you to the airport. You quickly ate before going to wake David up.
"David, wake up," you whispered, crouching down next to him. He rolled over so he was facing you, but kept his eyes closed, not wanting to have you and Natalie leave.
Once David was awake, he carried Natalie's suitcase out to his car. A few minutes later, you were on your way to the airport. David recorded a bit for his vlog about how he was going to be without his two girls for a week, and to not blame him if his life is a mess for the next week. You and Natalie were chatting about how much fun you were going to have when you noticed David's jaw tighten out of the corner of your eye. You reached over gave David's hand a squeeze, his face relaxing for a moment, but quickly tensing up again.
When you finally got to the airport and he stopped the car to drop you off, you asked Natalie to give you and David a minute alone. She nodded, hopping out of the car as you turned to face David.
"You okay, bub?" you asked, and he nodded. But you knew he was lying. You two hadn’t spent more than four nights apart since you started dating six months ago, so a week was going to be hard on both of you.
"Call me every night, okay?" David phrased it as a question but it was more of a demand. You agreed, leaning over and giving him a hug.
"See you in a week," you whispered, running your fingers through his hair. "I love you."
"I love you too, babe." You gave him a kiss before climbing out of the car and rejoining Natalie. You both grabbed your suitcases from the trunk and David came out with his camera to say goodbye. He gave both of you hugs before telling you to hurry so you don't miss your flight.
Once you and Natalie landed in Fiji, both you and Natalie already had multiple missed calls and texts from David asking if you were alive.
"Let's ignore him for now," Natalie suggested, annoyed that David was being so clingy. She wanted a getaway and had no desire to be listening to David. You reluctantly agreed, sending him a quick text that your flight landed and that you would call him when you had a minute before putting silencing your phone and putting it in your back pocket. You and Natalie collected your luggage and went outside, immediately engulfed by the heat and the humidity. You called a cab and headed to your villa, which was right on the water. It had two small bedrooms and one bathroom, and Natalie called dibs on showering first. While she was showering, you took your phone out to take a few photos to share with David so he knew you two had made it safely. He wanted to call you, but you heard the water turn off and put your phone away. You took a quick shower to rinse off from the long day of traveling before changing into your pajamas and getting into bed. You were both exhausted and it was late, so you decided to get some rest to take full advantage of tomorrow.
The following morning you ordered oatmeal and fresh fruit for breakfast, which you quickly scarfed down. You then changed into a solid black bikini as Natalie put on a cheetah print one, both of you wearing jean shorts and sandals.
You posed for a quick mirror selfie to post on your Instagram story and then headed down to the beach, leaving your phone behind. The two of you went right to the bar to get a couple drinks since that was the only proper way to celebrate the start of a vacation. You two had a relaxing day on the beach, enjoying the peace and quiet you never experienced around David. Over the next few days, you stayed off of your phone for the most part, having nightly facetime calls with David to catch up, but you kept those short since you and Natalie went out drinking at night.
Four days into your trip, you and Natalie had a photoshoot earlier in the day to get cute pictures. You had her take a few risqué photos of you to send to David, but kept them appropriate for the most part. You posted a collection of photos of you in a bikini on your Instagram and sent David the risqué photos Natalie took of you.
A few minutes later you got a series of texts from David talking about how hot you are.
david❤ : you are so hot
david❤ : jesus how did I get so lucky
david❤ : goddamn you're hot
david❤ : come home now
david❤: baby I miss youuu
You decided to facetime him since Natalie was in the other room. "Hi Dave," you smiled when he answered. You were still in your bikini since you hadn’t had a chance to shower yet.
"Hi, baby," he grinned, admiring how you looked in the swimsuit. You watched as he ran his fingers through his hair and breathed out.
You two talked for a while, David mostly rambling about how hot you looked in the pictures you sent him.
"David, we know your girlfriend is hot. You don’t have to keep saying it," Natalie sighed. She had waltzed into your room a few minutes ago and was now sitting on the edge of the bed waiting for you to hang up so you could make plans for the night. You giggled at her comment, but David was unamused.
"Nat, leave him alone. You know I need the ego boost," you said and Natalie rolled her eyes. "Can I call you back later?" you asked, focusing on David again.
"Yeah, I'll be up all night editing so I'll need some company," David pouted, suddenly hit with a wave of missing you. "I miss you."
"I miss you, too, Dave. I love you."
"I love you, too, babe," David said, blowing you a kiss. You giggled and blew him one back. You two exchanged goodbyes and you hung up and turned to Natalie.
You and Natalie talked about your plans for the night, which included dinner and the beach bar. You had made friends with a few other girls that you would probably meet up with tonight at the bar. You showered and changed into an outfit appropriate for dinner and drinks with the girls before heading out with Natalie.
The rest of the trip flew by and pretty soon you and Natalie were packing to go home. It was a much needed girls trip, but you were excited to get back to LA and, more importantly, David. Your flight home felt endless, and you were getting butterflies about seeing David. You missed him so much and you were ready to hug him and never let him go. When the plane finally landed, you and Natalie headed to baggage claim to find your luggage and David, who wanted to pick you guys up. You saw him with his camera in hand and sprinted over to hug him. A huge smile splashed across his face when he noticed you and he held him arms out.
"How was your trip?" he asked, looking between you and Natalie.
"Felt great to get away from you," Natalie smirked.
"Well, I missed you, babe," you replied, and he smiled at you.
"Thank you. I missed you, too," David said, giving you a quick kiss.
"Ugh, get a room you two," Natalie groaned as she walked away to pick up her suitcase.
By the time you got back to David's house, you were half asleep. The traffic was brutal and it took much longer than it should've. You followed David and Natalie inside, ready to collapse on to the first comfy surface you see. You found yourself on the couch a few moments later. Natalie had gone into her room to go to bed, and David plopped down on the couch next to you. You rested your head on his chest and your eyes fluttered shut as David wrapped his arms around you, pulling you in to him.
"Did you have a good trip?" David asked, and you hummed in response, too tired to talk.
"You missed me, right? Because I missed you like crazy." You hummed again, before falling asleep. David placed a kiss on the top of your head and let out a content sigh, happy to have you back in his arms.

Camp TV Biographies
This is a very, very, very long post!! There’s literally every Season One character in here and Tumblr tried to get me to cut it in half multiple times but like. lol no. Anyways, everything is under the cut!
Beth What’s your best quality? My detective skills! I have solved many small cases back on my farm at home, the largest of which being who was responsible for the grain going missing. Turns out it was just a rat.
Faves? (music, colour, movie, food)
My parents only have music from the 60’s, so that’s the only music I know.
I love pink! Especially more reddish ones.
What’s that one with a talking pig called? It reminds me so much of my own pig, Bertha!
My mum makes the best food ever, especially when it comes to pies.
Describe your craziest dream. I was a real detective, just like Sherlock Holmes! It was so cool, and I got to solve a murder, and I had a sidekick and everything!
Best memory from childhood? The day I got Bertha. She’s like a little sister to me.
Most embarrassing moment at school? One time I’d forgotten which shirt I had gotten dirty and I was in a rush, so I went to school in a muddy shirt with pig hoof-prints on it.
Describe the first job you ever had. I work on the farm as much as I can, in between school and detective work!
Ten years from now, what are you doing? I’ll have moved to England, and become the best detective in all of Scotland Yard!
My dream date would be with __________, doing what? Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but it would be less of a date, and more like me interviewing him and asking him what goes on in the mind of a detective as great as Sherlock.
It’s the last day on earth. In five words or less, what would you do? Find out what caused it!
Bridgette What’s your best quality? My patience for others!
Faves? (music, colour, movie, food)
I’m not all that into music, but I do listen to recordings of the ocean like, all the time.
Definitely ocean blue.
I’m super into mermaid movies.
Anything that’s vegan, but especially seaweed brownies.
Describe your craziest dream. It’s not really crazy per say, but I was a dolphin and I got to hang out with this clownfish, and we were totally the best of friends. It was really cool, actually.
Best memory from childhood? My first time going boogie-boarding. It what made me fall in love with the water, you know?
Most embarrassing moment at school? We went out to the beach for camp one year and we got to go surfing, and I totally wiped out on one of the waves in front of everyone! It was terrible.
Describe the first job you ever had. I’m a lifeguard at the community pool after school! It’s not exactly glamorous, but hey, it’s pretty fun sometimes.
Ten years from now, what are you doing? Living back in Fiji with a nice girl, in a house by the beach and helping out Mother Earth.
My dream date would be with __________, doing what? I can’t really think of someone off the top of my head, but we’d totally go surfing.
It’s the last day on earth. In five words or less, what would you do? Make the most of it.
Cody What’s your best quality? Hm... my creativity, I guess? It helps for getting out of tough situations sometimes.
Faves? (music, colour, movie, food)
There’s this musician, uh.. Neil Cicierega! I like his songs, but the Samsung ringtone is pretty good too.
I like pale oranges and blues!
I don’t really watch movies all that often, but uh.. don’t tell anyone I told you this, but I really like kid films, especially LEGO ones. Weird, I know.
I’m a sucker for anything with sugar! Although, it tends to make me super sick.
Describe your craziest dream. I was actually popular. I was so freaked out I woke up before anything could happen.
Best memory from childhood? Whenever I got to go to my aunt’s house! She has, like, the greatest German Shepard ever!

Ten years from now, what are you doing? Hopefully going out with the person of my dreams, but if not then probably just chilling at home, eating ice cream, wondering where I went wrong.
My dream date would be with __________, doing what? Okay so like, there’s this really cute guy at my school, so probably him, and we’d just go to the carnival, eat cotton candy and go on rides, and after it’s all over we’d watch the sunset and it’d be super cute. I’ve put more thought into this than I should have.

January 5, 2020
First and foremost a very hearty happy new year from all of me to all of you.
At the close of a year there is always a pause for reflection and in this case the close of a decade has prompted a more expansive look at the last 10 years as we start to look ahead at the 2020s (how is that a real date?). My past year has been defined by joining the peace corps and also my nephew. Two things that continue to dominate most of my thoughts. The past decade was undefinable with its only consistency being that it was inconsistent. It started with me ending high school and leaving for Italy where I would live in a different culture and different language while working with children. It is fitting then that I should start this decade in much the same way, though hopefully with more perspective and wisdom under my belt. Now enough of nostalgia and on to what you’re really here for: what is going on in Fiji?
The answer is honestly, not much. These first months at site have been relatively low key. Within my first week school ended for the holiday break, and the various village committees and groups followed suit. I spent the majority of the first two months living in a host home with two women and anxiously awaiting the readiness of a house to call my own. Finally on Christmas Eve my beautiful house, pink—inside and out, was completed and I woke up Christmas morning in my Barbie dream house. It truly is a dream to have a space to call your own. While I’ve been supremely lucky with my two host families in Fiji, 4 months with no true alone time proved to be difficult, even for an extreme extrovert like myself. I have been cherishing my tea, my camping chair, my scented candles (bougie I know), and mosquito netting ensconced bed no end. But mostly I’ve been truly appreciating the autonomy that comes with ones own space. It has made me better over all at interacting and integrating with my community and has given me much needed time to recharge and start preparing for the beginning school year.
So some of you might have also heard about Cyclone Sarai which hit Fiji right around Christmas time. Let me take this quick moment to give you a quick fact about cyclones: hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons are all the same thing, they just have a different name depending on what ocean they form over. Ok, so now you know what we’re dealing with, Cyclone Sarai started forming a few days before Christmas and quickly was predicted to become a major storm with high damage to the islands anticipated. After only two nights in my new house, I was evacuated, or “consolidated” as the peace corps says, to the capital to ride out the storm. Depending on the level of seriousness of the disaster we have different consolidation points. Because of the predicted severity of Sarai most of the volunteers were brought into the capital city, Suva. We stayed for just under a week as we waited out the storm. The best case scenario ended up happening in that the storm decreased in danger as it approached the island, damage was minimized to minor flooding and power outages, and everyone was safe. It turned out to be a nice opportunity to see my fellow volunteers, especially those who are placed far away in outer islands, and celebrate the holiday together. The Peace Corps is very on top of our safety and many staff members left family & and friends during Christmas to ensure our safety. It was a quick reminder of our privilege as Peace Corps volunteers to be able to evacuate so quickly and at no cost to ourselves when most of our villages have no such option.
So now having rung in the New Year with my village, I am soaking up the last few days of holiday bliss and look forward to the beginning of this year and decade. I can’t wait to begin working with the school and dig into the reasons I’m here.
Sending you all messages of strength and hope for this new year! Make sure you’re registered to vote!

History
They all told him he got married too young.
But he’d always been a hopeless romantic at heart, and he believed in the fairytale that was marrying your highschool sweetheart.
She was the very reason getting married at eighteen had been the best decision he’d ever made.
After D-Day, with Sasha on his hip, he headed for Colony 11 at the first whisper of its rising. Wasteland clans were no place for a ten year old girl, and so structure and stability was the first thing Cameron sought out for her sake.
Come the year of the New Wave, Cameron was asked to transfer overseas to help with the balance and reorginization of the various transfers being made, and since he’d be moving to a smaller, more relaxed Colony which would make for a better environment for his daughter, he was rather happy to oblige.

READ IT HERE ON AO3
previous chapter: xxx
“So where do you want to go for the honeymoon?”
Éponine reached over to take Enjolras’ right hand in her left, lacing their fingers together and giving his hand a squeeze. The two of them and Victoire were on the road once again a week after the proposal, Victoire fast asleep in her car seat in the back and clutching one of the arms of her Elmo doll as Éponine and Enjolras kept their eyes on the road ahead. They still had a bit of time ahead of them—the ride from Enjolras’ hometown back to New York City lasted roughly five hours, hence their decision to leave early that morning. It had been an hour since they left and the sun was well up, the season being summer, and they still had about four more hours to go until they reached New York once again. To their relief, Victoire had nodded off around ten minutes into the drive after a bottle of formula, though they had no way of knowing when she would be waking up again.
Enjolras smiled and brought Éponine’s hand to his lips, pressing a kiss to her knuckles and admiring how the engagement ring looked on her finger for a split second before he returned his gaze to the road ahead, his hand still clasped tight with Éponine’s. “Where do you want to go?”
“’Jolras, come on.” Though the look on Éponine’s face was mildly irritated, Enjolras could hear the smile in her voice. “I don’t want any of that ‘whatever you want, I want’ bullshit.”
“Language, ’Ponine,” Enjolras gently reprimanded. “Victoire’s here.”
“She’s asleep,” Éponine reminded him dismissively. Even so, she stole a glance over her shoulder to look at Victoire, just to make sure she was still sleeping. Sure enough, the toddler was still fast asleep, her golden hair falling into her eyes and drool dribbling down onto her shirt, eyelashes fluttering every now and then in her sleep. Turning back to look at the road, Éponine suggested, “What do you think about Hawaii?”
Enjolras made a face. “It’s beautiful, yes, but do you think it’s the right honeymoon spot for us?”
Éponine considered it for a few moments before she admitted, “No, I don’t think so.”
After a few moments of silence, Enjolras driving ahead with one hand and his other hand in Éponine’s, he prompted, “What about Bora Bora?”
“Where is that?”
“French Polynesia. I’ve been there before with my parents when I was fifteen, it’s beautiful.”
Éponine took her phone out to look it up, eyes widening at the pictures she found on Google. “Wow,” she breathed, awed by the crystal-clear waters and the azure skies.
“Do you like it?” Enjolras asked, hopeful.
“Yes,” Éponine replied, pausing for a moment before saying, “but I don’t think it’s the right place for us either. I’ll pass on Bora Bora.”
The two of them took advantage of their daughter being sound asleep to bounce ideas back and forth, suggesting several different honeymoon locations, including Venice, Santorini, Fiji, Dubai, the Maldives, Kyoto, Iceland, Palawan, Florence, Rome, Morocco, and countless other places. Neither of them could seem to agree on a location, and Éponine was beginning to despair—she wanted every aspect of this marriage to be perfect, including the honeymoon location. Why couldn’t they just fucking decide on a goddamn place?!
After some time, Éponine slumped down in her seat, fidgeting absent-mindedly with her locket, and suggested offhandedly, “Paris?”
It had been done a million times before, she knew, but that certainly wasn’t for no good reason—Paris was the city of love, practically synonymous with romance, having been hailed as the dream romantic destination for decades, and ever since she was a little girl, Éponine had always dreamed of going to Paris one day. She had always wanted to explore the city with someone, and who better to explore the city with than Enjolras?
She bit her lip, turning her head to glance at Enjolras, caught off-guard when his face lit up at her suggestion. “Yes, let’s go to Paris,” he agreed almost immediately, a smile lighting up his face and making it look as if his blue eyes were sparkling.
“Really?” Éponine could barely keep the excitement out of her voice, eyes bright.
“Yes, let’s go there!” Enjolras said brightly, enthusiastic as he gave Éponine’s hand a firm squeeze before bringing it to his lips to kiss her knuckles once again. Éponine felt her cheeks flush pink at the feeling, unable to get enough of him.
“Did we just decide on our honeymoon location?” she asked, feeling like she could cry after half an hour of indecisiveness and debating back and forth between themselves about where to go.
“I think we just did,” he confirmed, turning his head to give her a goofy grin before he focused once again on the road.
Éponine laughed out loud, feeling a rush of happiness surging through her upon finalising yet another aspect of the marriage, wishing she could just marry him right then and there. She wouldn’t care when, where, or how they got married—she just wanted them to spend the rest of their lives together as a married couple, and she wanted the rest of their lives to start as soon as possible.
The rest of the car trip passed by with no event, if one didn’t count Éponine and Enjolras having to change the music from Rent to The Lion King once Victoire woke up and made a big fuss about wanting to feed, screaming her head off until Éponine handed her a bottle of formula, which finally quieted her down. Once they had entered New York City, however, Éponine was all too confused when Enjolras drove right past their street, bewildered when they didn’t go back to their apartment.
“’Jolras, we just passed our place,” Éponine tentatively pointed out to him, stealing a glance over her shoulder. Victoire was still gulping down her formula, content for now. “Why’d you do that?”
Enjolras didn’t respond, keeping his eyes on the road ahead, and Éponine narrowed her eyes in suspicion upon noticing that it seemed as if Enjolras was driving towards Brooklyn. “Enjolras,” she growled under her breath once they were on the Brooklyn Bridge, itching for an answer. “Where the hell are we going?”
“You’ll see.” His cryptic answer only further fanned the flames of her annoyance, but she held her tongue, figuring that this better be good, otherwise she’d kick his ass. Once they were in Brooklyn, Enjolras kept driving on, down a familiar path, and Éponine’s suspicions were only confirmed when they pulled up in front of Jehan’s apartment building, Enjolras parking the car by the pavement and getting out.
Éponine got out after him, going to get Victoire out of her car seat as Enjolras went and got the fancy diaper bag Bahorel had given to them as a gift out of the trunk of the car. Victoire was awake now, squinting under the bright sunlight as Éponine picked her up, securing the little girl in her arms, and the two of them looked at Enjolras, Victoire with curiosity and Éponine with irritation.
“Why are we at Jehan’s place?” Éponine asked slowly once Enjolras had locked the car and they had made their way into the building, entering the elevator together. Victoire rubbed at her eye with a little fist when the elevator began to move up, up to Jehan’s loft, and if Éponine was correct in her suspicions, then Les Amis would be waiting inside to surprise them all with a surprise informal engagement party.
Sure enough, once they reached Jehan’s door, Enjolras had barely knocked on the front door when it swung open and they were met by deafening shouts of “CONGRATULATIONS!” from all of the Amis, and Éponine scrunched up her face and mustered a smile as she and Enjolras stepped inside, Victoire in her arms. It seemed that shouting hadn’t been the wisest idea—Azelma and Courfeyrac’s son Louis, now three months old, started wailing, frightened by all the noise, and Éponine winced at the memories of having had to deal with Victoire’s frequent screaming once they had gotten through that blessed period of time in which she was tranquil. Even still, she couldn’t help but snort in amusement upon seeing Azelma rush to grab Louis from his stroller as Courfeyrac quickly followed; as much as the sisters loved each other, they couldn’t help but laugh at each other’s misfortunes.
Éponine gave them all a giant smile, calling out, “Thank you so much, guys!”
Victoire’s big brown eyes searched the room and soon landed on Grantaire, who was standing with his Yorkie Toby at his feet, and she immediately started trying to pull herself out of her mother’s arms, reaching towards Grantaire. Éponine got the hint pretty quickly and put her daughter down on the wood floor, watching as Victoire toddled towards Grantaire as fast as her stubby little legs could take her, gleefully screaming, “Unca R!”
Éponine couldn’t help but laugh as she watched Victoire leap into Grantaire’s arms, the man catching her in record time while the toddler immediately went to grab at his unruly black curls, tugging insistently at them and laughing at the mildly pained look on his face as she did so. She went over to Enjolras’ side, putting an arm around his waist as he did the same with her shoulders just as Combeferre walked up to them, a wide grin on his face.
“Congratulations on the engagement!” Combeferre congratulated them warmly, embracing Enjolras before doing the same with Éponine. Enjolras couldn’t help but grin back, unbelievably happy and still rejoicing over the fact that Éponine actually said yes.
“Thanks, ’Ferre,” Éponine replied, flashing him a dimpled grin.
“When’s the wedding?” Bahorel shouted out from nearby.
“Next autumn!” Éponine called back in response. When she was met by disappointed groans and complaints of how that was to be in over a year, she got up on a chair and called out, “Guys! We’re still sorting things out, all right? Almost none of our plans are set in stone yet, we literally just got engaged a week ago.” She smiled approvingly when the Amis quieted down, going back to their own things as Éponine stepped off the chair and looked around at the decorations.
She had no doubt the decorations were all Cosette’s doing, perhaps with a little help from Feuilly and Jehan—gold and silver balloons spelling out “congratulations on the engagement!” were taped up on the wall above the fireplace, streamers and fairy lights hanging everywhere and giving the place a sort of warm atmosphere. On the wall spaces between the windows, Éponine noticed pictures of her and Enjolras together through the years, even when they hadn’t been together, had been pasted up and tastefully arranged against the red bricks, a good portion of the pictures containing Victoire as well. Snacks lined a long table pushed up against the wall under the windows, containing popcorn, Skittles, Cheetos puffs, Doritos, cupcakes, several different kinds of pies, and God knows what else among them, and music was playing in the background, Éponine noticing that the song currently playing was “Perfect”. The thought that the music was probably off a playlist of love songs got her thinking about how she and Enjolras would have to decide on a song to dance to for their first dance as a married couple, and the mere thought of it made her shiver with excitement.
She didn’t notice Musichetta and Cosette approach her until one of them tapped her on the shoulder, and Éponine jumped, startled as she turned to look at them both. “Jesus fuck, don’t scare me like that!” she hissed, her face flushed red with embarrassment.
The other two women remained unfazed, and to Éponine’s alarm, Cosette’s eyes filled with tears as she reached up to place her hands on the brunette’s shoulders. “We’re so happy for you, Eppy!” she squealed, biting her lip as she smiled up at Éponine. “We’ve been wondering when Enjy was going to propose for a while now.”
“Let us see the ring!” Musichetta practically demanded, although her tone of voice was fairly light. Éponine laughed and brought her left hand up for Musichetta and Cosette to see, the pair letting out little “oooooh’s” of admiration upon seeing the ring.
“Oh, wow,” Musichetta breathed out, lightly running a finger over the tiny diamonds and the aquamarine inlaid in the ring. “Ep, this is gorgeous.”
“Enjy really went all out, didn’t he?” Cosette remarked blithely, looking back up at Éponine once she had satisfied herself with the sight of Éponine’s engagement ring. “How did he propose?”
“He brought me and Vicky out to a field near one of his parents’ log cabins around sunset,” Éponine replied. “He told me he wanted to take us to see the fireflies. I just stood there by a tree and watched him and Vicky playing with the fireflies for the most part until he came back to me. Vicky was still playing in the field; I have pictures if you want to see them later, they’re really nice. We were talking and then he just popped the question, I guess.” Éponine scrunched up her face, her mind going back to the night Enjolras proposed, and she amended, “Actually, he didn’t technically ask, now that I think of it. We talked about marriage for a bit and I told him I’d say yes if he was planning on proposing, so he just took the ring out of his pocket and said, ‘Marry me.’” She smiled at the memory, remembering how she had felt as if she was on cloud nine when he proposed to her and how she had jumped him in response, kissing him as if her life depended on it before finally saying yes.
Musichetta and Cosette were silent, attentive, as they listened to Éponine recount the tale of Enjolras’ marriage proposal to her, and once she was finished, Cosette let out a dreamy sigh. “That’s so sweet,” she cooed, rubbing her abdomen. Éponine’s gaze fell to Cosette’s stomach and she smiled at the sight of her bump. The blonde was about twenty-one weeks along now, and apparently multiples tended to be born earlier, so Éponine supposed she would have Marius and Cosette’s twins attending her wedding to Enjolras by the time it finally rolled around. Not that she wouldn’t even if they were born at forty weeks; the wedding was hopefully to be in just a little bit over a year, and Cosette was five months along already.
“You’re glowing,” Éponine complimented, and Cosette’s face flushed pink.
“Thanks,” the blonde replied rather shyly, rubbing her swelling stomach. “I still can’t believe there’s two of them in me, though.”
“Neither can we,” Musichetta said, laughing.
“Where are you going for the honeymoon, Eppy?” Cosette turned the attention back to Éponine, not wanting her pregnancy to be the talk of the hour when Éponine and Enjolras were the ones being celebrated. “Wait, are you two even going on a honeymoon?”
“Yeah, we are,” Éponine confirmed, a faint, giddy smile spreading across her face and carving dimples into her cheeks. “Vicky’s going to be staying with Enjolras’ parents while we’re in Paris.”
Musichetta and Cosette’s jaws dropped open simultaneously at the revelation that Éponine was to be honeymooning in fucking Paris with Enjolras. “Paris, France?”
Éponine laughed. “Yeah, where the hell else?”
Musichetta’s eyes widened and without thinking, she screeched out, “Holy shit!”
“There are little ears here!” Grantaire hollered back, covering Victoire’s as Azelma flinched in the corner, desperately trying to calm Louis down with Courfeyrac’s help and only resulting in Louis wailing even louder.
Musichetta brought her hand to her mouth, whispering, “Shit.”
Éponine shook her head, trying to restrain herself from smiling in amusement. “We’ve got little kids around us now, Chetta. Watch your language.”
“Jesus, fine,” Musichetta muttered, cheeks flamed red in mortification.
“Oh, by the way—” Another thought popped into Éponine’s head just then and she needed confirmation from Musichetta and Cosette, and so she requested, “Will you two be my bridesmaids?”
Musichetta’s eyes practically popped out of their sockets at Éponine’s request and Cosette was quick to reply, squealing and saying, “Eppy, of course we will! We’d be honoured to!”
Éponine grinned at their enthusiasm. “Sweet. You two are my bridesmaids now, no take backs.”
Éponine soon left Musichetta and Cosette to make her way over to Grantaire, who was sitting on the rug before the TV with Victoire in his lap. The two of them were watching The Little Mermaid—or at least, Grantaire was; Victoire was too busy trying to coax Toby over to her by reaching out to the dog and making grabby hands as she babbled incoherently. Éponine plopped down beside Grantaire and her daughter on the rug, a huge grin on her face.
“Congrats on the engagement, Ep,” Grantaire told her, grinning at her as he turned his head to press a kiss to her temple. “We were wondering when Enj would suck it up and finally propose.”
“Well, he did, and I said yes.” Éponine held out her left hand to admire her ring, still dazzled by its beauty and catching herself wondering how much it could have possibly cost. Grantaire immediately grabbed her hand to bring it closer to his face so he could properly inspect the ring. After a while, he let out a low, appreciative whistle, green eyes sparkling.
“Damn,” Grantaire murmured, yelping when Éponine smacked him in the arm.
“Don’t swear around my kid!” she scolded him, gesturing to Victoire. The toddler remained oblivious, still trying to coax Toby over.
“Oh, like you never do,” Grantaire retorted. “Anyway, that’s a really nice ring. He must like you a lot,” he drawled, feigning indifference.
“I like to think he does,” Éponine replied airily, playing along and glancing over at Enjolras—he was surrounded by Combeferre, Bahorel, Feuilly, and Joly, being congratulated on working up the balls to finally propose after about a year and a half of being with Éponine. She couldn’t help but smile at the mere sight of him—to think, hopefully in a little over a year they were going to be married and she’d finally get to call him her husband.
“Can I be the flower boy at your wedding?” Grantaire’s words brought Éponine out of her trance and she turned her head to glance at him while he bounced Victoire up and down in his lap. The toddler seemed to have given up on trying to wheedle Toby into approaching her and had settled for watching The Little Mermaid, finally admitting defeat.
Éponine scrunched up her face. “Sorry, R, but ’Jolras and I’ve already decided that this little peanut here—” she gestured to Victoire “—is going to be our flower girl.”
Victoire looked up at her mother upon hearing the affectionate nickname her parents had for her and she beamed at Éponine, dimples carving themselves into her cheeks, and she reached for Éponine. “Mommy!”
“Come here, Vicky!” Éponine picked Victoire up, out of Grantaire’s lap and into her own, and Toby immediately rushed over to Grantaire and leapt into his dad’s lap, wagging his tail. Éponine couldn’t help but cackle at the sight, remarking slyly, “Looks like somebody’s a little jealous of Peanut.”
Toby simply barked in response, evoking laughter from both Grantaire and Éponine, and Victoire soon joined in, giggling and clapping her hands despite having no idea what was going on. “Looks like he is,” Grantaire said once his laughter had died down. Looking between Victoire and Éponine, marvelling at the similarities in appearance—Victoire was basically a mini Éponine, only with blonde hair and Enjolras’ smile as well as that tiny cleft in her chin that she had gotten from him—Grantaire commented, “I guess that makes sense, having Vicky be your flower girl.”
Éponine pressed a tender kiss to the top of Victoire’s head as the little girl turned her attention back to The Little Mermaid, tuning out everything else once again. She loved her darling baby girl so much; she had spent nights crying in Enjolras’ arms over the course of the past year, worrying about whether or not she was a horrible mom after recalling how her own mother had fucked her up, but he never failed to reassure her of her capabilities as a mother, always there to remind her that she wasn’t her parents and she wasn’t going to screw this up. “I just love her so much,” Éponine mumbled, her voice barely audible. “She has to be a part of the wedding.”
“Well, yeah, she’s your daughter,” Grantaire pointed out, stating the obvious. “I’d be concerned if she wasn’t. When are you planning on getting married?”
“Late September or early October next year,” Éponine replied, caressing Victoire’s soft golden hair as the little girl kept her deep brown eyes glued on the TV screen. “’Jolras and I’ve decided on getting married in Central Park like Marius and Cosette did. Maybe we’ll even have the ceremony on Cherry Hill like they did. We still haven’t decided on a venue for the reception yet, though—I’ve looked some places up, they’re all equally nice and that’s making it hard to decide between them.” Éponine lightly rested her chin on the top of Victoire’s head, swaying slightly from side to side to “Part of Your World”.
“Wow,” Grantaire murmured. It felt like it had been only yesterday when he and Éponine first approached Les Amis at that café that had become their sacred spot, and now here they all were. “It’s kind of hard to believe you’re actually getting married.”
“Yeah, well, it was kind of hard to believe I was pregnant with Vicky here when I was, but look at us now.” She patted Victoire’s head and pressed another soft kiss to the top of her daughter’s head, making her giggle slightly. Éponine sighed, giddy about her upcoming wedding and impatient to set a date. “I’m just so excited,” she murmured, a smile spreading across her face and quickly morphing into a huge grin. “I was seriously considering asking ’Jolras to elope, I’m so excited.”
“Hey, we want to be a part of this too,” Grantaire mock-protested, feigning an indignant look and eliciting a snort from Éponine.
“Yeah, that’s why we didn’t end up eloping, my dear R,” Éponine informed him, sickening sweetness dripping from her tone. “You’ll probably be asked to be one of the groomsmen.” Looking around at their friends, Éponine remarked, “I think all of you guys will be asked to be groomsmen. That’s how it was with Marius and Cosette’s wedding, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah.” Grantaire grinned to himself upon imagining the bachelor party they were inevitably going to throw for Enjolras after forcing him into agreeing to let them do so, already beginning to get ideas and making mental notes to bring them up later. “I look really hot in a tux.”
“Too bad Jehan hasn’t noticed yet,” Éponine commented rather snarkily. Grantaire was quick to smack her in the arm, glaring at her and only succeeding in making her laugh her ass off at his expense.
“Oh, shut up,” he muttered, his cheeks flaming red. “I’ll have you know we’ve been out on several dates now. Things are getting pretty serious, Ep.”
“If you say so.” Éponine turned her attention back to the TV screen, absent-mindedly stroking Victoire’s hair as the two of them watched The Little Mermaid, Victoire completely focused on the movie.
After a while, Grantaire asked, “Will you and Enj be going on a honeymoon?”
“Yep,” Éponine responded surely, popping the ‘p’ and smiling at the thought. “We’re going to Paris.”
“Oh, wow, Paris?” Grantaire’s green eyes widened at the information, wondering how the hell they were going to cover all the wedding costs. “Isn’t that expensive?”
“Enjolras’ parents insisted on paying for everything,” Éponine explained, shrugging. “We tried to turn it down but they wouldn’t take no for an answer, so I guess we’re going to splurge. They offered to take care of Vicky while we’re in Paris as well, so we’ll be leaving her with them for two weeks or for however long our honeymoon will be.”
“Wow.” Grantaire let out another low whistle, amazed by how much thought Éponine had already put into the wedding.
After some time, Éponine murmured, “Vicky?”
Victoire turned around to crane her neck and look up at her mother upon hearing her name, brown eyes wide. Éponine told her softly, “I’m going to leave you with Uncle R, okay? I’m going to go see Auntie Zelma. We can do that, right, baby?”
Victoire simply smiled that sweet little smile of hers at Éponine, displaying four teeth and little dimples, and babbled some nonsense in response, evoking a laugh from Éponine. “I’ll take that as a yes, then!”
She pressed a kiss to her daughter’s forehead before lifting her out of her lap and handing her over to Grantaire; Toby had jumped out of his lap to go explore the loft for a little bit, having been spending more and more time over there for the past few weeks. Victoire immediately stood up to face Grantaire, grabbing his face with her starfish hands and kissing his nose; Éponine could hear Grantaire laughing loudly at the gesture as she made her way over to Azelma in the corner.
Azelma and Courfeyrac had finally managed to get Louis to calm down, the three-month-old now peacefully sleeping in his stroller, and the redhead was a little more than a bit frazzled by the time Éponine made her way over to her. Courfeyrac had left to congratulate Enjolras before Éponine found her way to Azelma, and the brunette asked, “You okay?”
“I’m sorry if I ever belittled or made fun of your parenting efforts in this past year, whether intentional or not,” Azelma blurted out rapidly, the words spilling out of her mouth all at once. Her auburn hair was a bit of a mess, her clothing wrinkled and bags beginning to form under her eyes, and Éponine pursed her lips at the sight. Azelma’s hazel eyes were full of despair as she asked, “Ep, tell me the truth—am I a terrible mom? Am I just like our mom?”
“No, Zelma, of course not!” Éponine was quick to reassure Azelma that she was nothing like their own mother was. “You’re trying your best. We all are. That’s what matters in the end.”
“But what if Louis grows up to hate me even when I’m trying my best?” Azelma wailed, glancing at the sleeping baby in the stroller beside her. “It’s happened before, Ep, kids end up hating their parents even if their parents are trying their best and doing what they think is right for the kid. I don’t want that to happen.”
“It won’t,” Éponine firmly reassured Azelma. “Not if I have anything to do with it.”
She glanced at Louis, sleeping soundly in the stroller, a corner of his blankie scrunched up in his little fist—he had quite a bit of hair for being only three months old, having inherited Azelma’s auburn hair, though he had inherited his unruly curls from Courfeyrac. Besides the fact that he also had Azelma’s hazel eyes and olive skin tone, Louis looked like a tiny baby Courfeyrac, and Éponine smiled at the sight of her nephew, restraining herself from reaching out and softly pinching his chubby cheek.
“Congrats on the engagement, Éponine.” Azelma’s change of subject brought Éponine back to earth and she looked up to look at her sister, who had smoothed out her hair as best as she could and mustered a smile. “Can I see the ring?”
Éponine held out her left hand for Azelma to see, and she let out a small whistle at the sight of the stunning engagement ring on Éponine’s ring finger. “Damn,” she murmured, running a finger over the aquamarine the ring had been embellished with. “This shit must’ve been expensive.”
“Yeah, I guess it was.” Éponine joined Azelma in admiring her engagement ring, thinking about how she had barely ever taken it off in the past week with the exceptions of when she and Enjolras were bathing Victoire and she was showering. Once she and Azelma were facing one another again, Éponine took a deep breath and requested, “Zel, will you be my maid of honour?”
Azelma nearly choked on her own spit. “For real?”
“Yeah,” Éponine affirmed, sheepish. “It’s just—you’re my sister and we’ve been through a fuckton of shit together. I think it’s only right that you’re my maid of honour. If you’re willing, obviously.”
“Of course I am!” Azelma’s hazel eyes were wide at Éponine’s words, and she was quick to say yes to her older sister’s request. “I’d love to be your maid of honour, Ep.”
Éponine positively beamed when Azelma agreed, letting out a cry of delight and pulling her sister into a tight embrace, which Azelma awkwardly returned. Éponine was planning on asking Gavroche later if he would be willing to escort her down the aisle since their father was very much absent from their lives and had been for the better part of seven years or so and she turned around as her hand went to her locket to play around with it, her gaze landing on Enjolras, who was surrounded by most of the Amis, and she couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of him looking so utterly helpless as they peppered him with questions.
At the kitchen island, Enjolras was being bombarded with questions left and right, having been trapped by Courfeyrac, Jehan, Bahorel, Feuilly, Marius, Joly, and to some extent, Combeferre, and there was no escaping them now, not when they were talking over each other so damn much and practically attacking him with all their questions. Combeferre remained the calmest out of all of them, keeping silent for the most part, although Enjolras didn’t miss the sympathetic looks Combeferre sent his way as the others barraged him with endless, often repetitive questions.
“Guys!” Combeferre eventually shouted over the noise, effectively shutting them all up. The bespectacled man gestured to a helpless Enjolras, telling them all, “One question at a time, you’re stressing Enjolras out. Lord knows he’s already got enough to stress about with the wedding he has to plan.”
“Thank for the reminder, ’Ferre,” Enjolras grumbled under his breath. He just wanted to get married to Éponine, damn it—he didn’t care how or when or where, all that mattered to him was finally being able to call her his wife.
Although admittedly, the idea of a big white wedding did sound appealing, though neither he nor Éponine wanted too many guests—he vaguely recalled how they had discussed not liking being surrounded by so many people a million years ago at Marius and Cosette’s wedding. He was willing to put up with having a million guests if his parents insisted on it, though. A small price to pay for finally getting to marry the love of his life.
“How d’you feel, Enjy?” Courfeyrac questioned, grinning from ear to ear and wiggling his eyebrows.
“I just want to marry her already,” Enjolras admitted, the corners of his mouth tugging upwards in a slight smile. “We probably would have gotten married the day after I proposed if we had had our way.”
“No offence, but we’re glad you didn’t,” Bahorel told him candidly, taking a sip of wine. “We want to be a part of this shit too, you know. Our chief and my little sister getting married. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time now, you have no fucking idea how sick we all were of all the pining between you two.”
“Which is precisely why we didn’t end up eloping,” Enjolras said, rolling his eyes in mild amusement when Bahorel offhandedly referred to Éponine as his little sister despite the two of them having no relation whatsoever. “Will you guys be my groomsmen? All of you?”
“Is that even a question? Of course we will!” Feuilly gave Enjolras a warm smile, delighted at the news that two of his friends were finally on their way to tying the knot.
“We’re throwing a bachelor party for you, just FYI,” Courfeyrac butted in, grinning deviously at Enjolras and seeming to already have more than a few ideas in mind. Enjolras sighed, figuring that he might as well agree since the others would force him into having a bachelor party anyway if he refused.
“Okay, fine.”
“What’s it like being engaged?” Jehan questioned, bright-eyed and curious.
“Mostly the same, truth be told,” Enjolras replied. “It’s just the fact that she’s my fiancée now instead of my girlfriend that makes a difference.”
“But how do you feel?” Joly pressed.
“Excited.” Enjolras couldn’t help but smile at the thought of having his friends bear witness to his wedding when it finally rolled around. “I just—I love her so much; I can’t wait to marry her.”
“Awww,” Jehan cooed, absolutely in love with how in love Enjolras was with Éponine. “You two are too cute together.”
“Where are you going to get married? And when?” Marius asked out of the blue, green eyes finding Enjolras’ blue.
“We’re planning on getting married in Central Park next autumn,” Enjolras responded. “Early September or late October. Maybe we could get married on Cherry Hill like you did?” He phrased it more like a question, and Marius beamed at him.
“Oh, that would be so neat!” Marius clapped his hands together, delighted as he asked, “What about the reception?”
“We’re planning on having an outdoor wedding and an indoor reception,” Enjolras told them all. “We’ve looked up some venues for the wedding reception; we haven’t decided on one yet, but I would really love to have the reception at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers.”
“Noice,” Courfeyrac commented, grinning widely.
“Are you two going on a honeymoon?” Feuilly enquired, leaning forward above the kitchen island.
“Yes, we’re going to Paris,” Enjolras told them. “Victoire’s going to stay with my parents while ’Ponine and I are in Paris.”
“You two are really going to go all out with this wedding, aren’t you?” Bahorel whistled appreciatively upon hearing Enjolras’ grand plans for his wedding. “How are you even going to afford everything?”
“My parents insisted on paying for it all,” Enjolras admitted, sheepish. “The wedding, the reception, the honeymoon, the clothes, the catering—everything. We tried to say no but they wouldn’t take no for an answer, so I suppose we’ll be going all out. I just want ’Ponine to be happy, honestly,” he murmured, bowing his head to try and hide his giddy smile. “We’ll definitely have to make some compromises at some point, but in the end, if she’s happy, then I’ll be too.”
Courfeyrac grinned and raised his glass, prompting the others to do the same, as he announced, “To Enjy!”
“To Enjolras!”
Enjolras felt his cheeks grow warm at the gesture, and eventually enough, they had all dispersed except for Combeferre. Enjolras was just about to speak when he felt something collide with his legs; he looked down to find that Victoire had fallen backwards into a sitting position, eyes watery and in a daze from her collision, and she started to cry—loudly—reaching up for Enjolras and wailing, “Daddy Daddy Daddy!”
He bent down to pick her up, gently shushing her and bouncing her up and down in his arms as she stuck her thumb in her mouth, sucking at it, tears streaking her pudgy cheeks. “It’s all right, Peanut,” he murmured softly to her, gently bouncing her up and down as her wails gradually died down. “Daddy’s here.”
After a while, Victoire took her thumb out of her mouth and wiped the saliva off on her little blue shortalls before her arms went to wrap around her father’s neck, her head on his shoulder. Enjolras made sure she was secure in his arms before he turned back to Combeferre, who was watching the both of them intently.
“’Ferre, I have a huge favour to ask of you,” Enjolras began, grimacing slightly when Victoire grabbed some of his curls in her hand and tugged at them.
“Whatever it is, the answer is yes,” Combeferre responded swiftly.
Enjolras chuckled, his head being tugged down a little bit as Victoire pulled at his hair even more insistently, merrily laughing and babbling as she twisted her little fingers into her father’s golden curls. “So you’ll be my best man?”
“Of course I will,” Combeferre replied, positively beaming at Enjolras. “How are you feeling?”
“I feel great.” Enjolras paused for a moment to press a kiss to Victoire’s forehead once she finally disentangled her fingers from his hair, grabbing his face and kissing his nose, evoking a laugh from both him and Combeferre. Once Enjolras had turned back to Combeferre, he asked rather hesitantly, “Combeferre, do you think—will I—do you think I’ll be a good husband to ’Ponine?”
Combeferre reached out to place a hand on Enjolras’ shoulder. “I know you will, Enjolras.” Combeferre was completely earnest as he told the groom-to-be, “You’ve already done such a great job so far being her boyfriend and Victoire’s father. Honestly, you two are practically married already—you just haven’t made it completely official yet.”
“I don’t want to let her down,” Enjolras murmured, his gaze trailing to Éponine across the room as Victoire grabbed at his hair again, and he smiled wistfully at the sight of his fiancée. “I don’t want to disappoint her. I want to spend the rest of my life with her.”
Enjolras was rarely this vocal about his innermost feelings, though Combeferre wasn’t surprised that now was one of those rare times when he was, considering how he was engaged to be married. He was understandably anxious about things; it was certainly a massive step for both him and Éponine, actually getting married. Combeferre patted Enjolras’ shoulder, noticing how Victoire’s starfish hands were still wound into her father’s curls and resisting a laugh at the sight of Enjolras looking so obviously uncomfortable as his daughter tugged at his hair, the little blonde toddler giggling and looking as if her father’s discomfort was the funniest thing in her life at the moment.
“I’m sure Éponine feels the same way,” Combeferre reassured Enjolras. “She wouldn’t have agreed to marry you if she didn’t, right?”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” Enjolras bit his lip, gazing at Éponine from a distance and wincing slightly when Victoire gave his hair a particularly harsh tug. “I love her so much. I don’t want to let her down.”
“And you won’t,” Combeferre told him confidently. “Anyone could see how much you two clearly love each other and how much you both love Victoire. Will there be bumps in the road along the way? Absolutely, but you two always work things out. You have nothing to worry about, Enjolras.” Changing the subject a bit, Combeferre added, “Also, I’ll make sure Courf’s bachelor party plans don’t get too out of hand.”
Enjolras mustered a smile before it quickly morphed back into a grimace when Victoire pulled at his hair yet again, giggling the entire time. “Thanks, ’Ferre.”
Combeferre soon left to go chat with Joly, Musichetta, and Bossuet, leaving Enjolras at the kitchen island with a restless Victoire in his arms. From across the room, Enjolras caught Éponine’s eye, and upon seeing her face light up with a dimpled grin when she noticed him looking at her, her deep brown eyes sparkling, he smiled.

History
They all told him he got married too young.
But he’d always been a hopeless romantic at heart, and he believed in the fairytale that was marrying your highschool sweetheart.
She was the very reason getting married at eighteen had been the best decision he’d ever made.
After D-Day, with Sasha on his hip, he headed for Colony 11 at the first whisper of its rising. Wasteland clans were no place for a ten year old girl, and so structure and stability was the first thing Cameron sought out for her sake.

(Final) Chapter 46: Never is a long time
I have so many things to say in this last post. First of all I want to thank everyone who read the fic and supported it and also followed Anastasia's Instagram. This experience has allowed me to meet so many amazing people around the world and I'll be forever grateful for your friendship during this time. I hope we can all keep in touch. I'm extra proud of myself for finishing this. To be honest with you, there were times when I thought couldn't do it, sometimes I didn't want to, but now I'm happy I did.
It's been a wild year since I started to write this story and my life did a 180° turn since last January when I wrote those first lines after reading another amazing fanfic (Be My Getaway), at that moment I was so alone in life and so depressed that writing this was a light in my dark day to day.
Thank you again, I never expected all the success, even if nobody read it I'm so happy I did this. Life is better now and it's just starting, and I'll keep writing, and I'll continue writing about Anastasia and I hope we can all gather around that story too.
I wanna give special thanks to Adriana for helping me with my grammar, y'all know English is not my first language, to Eva (my new roommate, who would have thought?) for the support and for being JoshAn's number one fan, and to Mai for the love.
And to you for being here with me till the end.
Thank you again, I love you all.
Back in California, Anastasia didn’t have a lot of time to think about Josh’s last unfortunate behavior. The fact that he let her down so many times now was enough for her to stop caring about it, but she couldn’t and she knew it. Now the fact that she still loved Josh as hard as she loved him a year ago didn’t leave her mind. But work was calling and Dead Curse’s new single was all about him, about Josh. “How appropriate”, she though ironically while she was inside a black van on the way to perform on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, a popular talk show on US television.
Jimmy knew Barbara for a long time and, of course, he knew Anastasia as well. After a warm and friendly welcome, An and Mandy did a short interview and then it was time to perform.
“Crossfire” was the name of the song and the rhythm was slow. She never planned to make it a single but the rest of the band was very enthusiastic about it and, as a democracy, they voted it to be the third single from Live Action.
There’s still in the street outside your window
You’re keeping secrets on your pillow
Let me inside, no cause for alarm
I promise tonight not to do no harm
I promise you babe, I won’t be no harm
And we’re caught up in the crossfire
Of heaven and hell
And we’re searching for shelter
Lay your body down
Lay your body down
Lay your body down
Watching you dress as you turn on the light
I forget all about the storm outside
Dark clouds roll their way over town
Heartache and pain came pouring down like chaos in the rain
They’re heading it out
And we’re caught up in the crossfire
Of heaven and hell
And we’re searching for shelter
Lay your body down
Lay your body down
Lay your body down
Tell the devil that he can go back from where he came
His fiery arrows drew their beat in vein
And when the hardest part is over we’ll be here
And our dreams will break the boundaries of our fears
 Lay your body down
Lay your body down
Lay your body down
Next to mine
 Josh’s POV
He was speechless. Josh always had certain envy towards the way Anastasia could put the deepest feelings into such melodic songs and that one, the verses he just heard her sing, were about him. He just knew it. Nobody had to tell him. She loved him and yet he let her down. She even told him she would leave it all for him and positive words couldn’t make their way out of his mouth.
There she was, on that screen, singing about him on national television, wearing a short, loose dark blue dress as the one she wore on their first date in New York, even her lips were red like the. It all brought him back to that night and all the amazing nights that followed. How could he? Josh never watched TV, unless it was sports, but Eric told him that Dead Curse would perform at Jimmy Kimmel and something inside of him pushed him to watch it. He didn’t regret it.
By then Josh was single again. Lauren ended up being tired of him not wanted to do anything “fun” with her, that and maybe the five times he called her “Anastasia” by accident –Two during sex. In the end she left him. He didn’t care about it that much, he just let her go and didn’t even try to reach her out again. It didn’t matter; no other woman mattered at the moment for him but Anastasia. A true treasure he let go, he let her space from his arms too many times. And now it was going to be harder than ever. She was with Richard the last time they were together and she, unexpectedly but magically, told him she would “leave it all” for him. But he shattered any opportunity, choosing fear again. How he loved to hear her say that to him, but enough was enough and he thought this time she wasn’t coming back. Life would go on but without her and it wasn’t going to be even half good.
Josh got up from the sofa and walked to the front door of his house. There he had a small table with some mail he hadn’t checked yet, he went through the envelopes until a very fancy one caught his attention. He opened it to discover the invitation to Mandy’s wedding.
Josh held the card in his hands for minutes and hesitated attending the wedding. On the one hand, Mandy became a great friend and many of his own friends were going to be there, but Anastasia would be an obvious presence and he didn't know if he could face her after what happened at Mark's wedding.
 Anastasia’s POV
- I hope you aren't disappointed with your bachelorette party - Anastasia told Mandy while both were flying on a private jet.
- Are you insane? You know how much I wanted to visit Tulum! - Mandy said showing real excitement sitting in front of her blue haired friend.
- Yeah, but it's just us travelling. I thought you wanted a big party with a lot of people.
- An, my wedding will be a big party with a lot of people, this is just what I need right now. It all has been so stressful. I need to relax and you need tranquility too... Have you talked to Richard?
Richard... The topic Anastasia was expecting to surface but didn't want to talk about. Anastasia broke up with Richard a week before. She realized how much she still loved Josh and it wasn't fair for Richard, she was with him but thinking about Josh all the time. Richard was such a great boyfriend, loving and supportive that he didn’t deserve that, what she felt for Richard was more admiration than anything else, it was a platonic love but not a real one. The guy was devastated and Anastasia still felt bad about it.
 - He actually thought we would be together forever and I thought so too, but I just couldn’t stop thinking about Josh. I truly love him, Mandy, but he will never be ready - Anastasia said.
- So you’ll just avoid love until Josh is ready? - Mandy asked.
- I'm not avoiding love - Anastasia answered - I'm waiting for it because I know Josh is my true love. - Mandy left her seat to hug Anastasia, sitting on her lap.
- I swear, underneath all that hard shell there is this super romantic, cheesy and ridiculous Anastasia that I love - Mandy said smiling.
- I'm gonna reply to that saying that we need to start with the champagne - Anastasia smiled too while Mandy took her seat again and her blue haired friend went for a bottle of champagne.
Tulum was a beautiful beach location in Mexico. Mandy had wanted to go for the longest time, so Anastasia thought it was the perfect place for a bachelorette party. She didn't have enough time to plan the whole thing ahead so there was just the two of then enjoying a best friend's weekend.
And so they did. They arrived on Saturday morning and had a large breakfast with every fruit they could possibly imagine, then they hit the beach until the afternoon. Tulum was an amazing place to find gorgeous handcraft items and both friends shopped until nighttime.
It was time for dinner. An made reservations in a very exclusive restaurant at the shore, it had a balcony and they could see and hear the waves hitting the sand.
 - I don't know if this is my bachelorette party or my honeymoon - Mandy said laughing.
- Maybe this will make you fit more into the bachelorette mood - A waiter approached them with two Margaritas.
- This fits into the Mandy mood - They clinked glasses and cheered but Mandy didn't drink - I can't believe you are actually sending us to Fiji.
- It’s where you wanted to go and I told you I'd take care of the honeymoon.
- Yeah, but you are so good to me!
- Mandy, you are my best friend. You have to deal with me everyday, this is the least I could do for you. I love you. I want you to be happy and this is what best friends do.
- So I have to start planning your honeymoon in Mykonos for when you marry Josh - Anastasia smiled, how well that pink haired girl knew her.
- I'm probably more excited than you about your wedding - Anastasia said changing the subject.
- I'm excited but this is just a step. My relationship with Peyton isn't gonna change because of it.
- Why aren't you drinking your Margarita? - Anastasia asked noticing Mandy hadn't taken a sip of it yet.
- I am - Mandy answered laughing and not touching the glass.
- Of course not, and you didn't drink champagne on the plane either! - Anastasia told her friend with a suspicious look.
- You don't miss a thing, do ya? - Mandy was still laughing.
- Oh my God, Mandy! - Anastasia screamed realizing the whole thing.
- You can't tell anybody. Nobody knows. I'm going to announce it at the wedding. Only Peyton knows about it. - Mandy said with a huge smile on her face.
- You really are pregnant? - Anastasia asked and Mandy just nodded - I'm fainting, for real. I'm gonna be an aunt again! How far along are you?
- Five weeks, kinda - Mandy said - I'm very regular with my periods and I just missed one and I knew it, Peyton went with me to the doctor and the test was positive. He cried, I freaked out.
- I'm freaking out!
- Not even mom knows about it. Neither does Nick. I'm going to announce it at the wedding and it fucking sucks I can't drink on my own wedding - Mandy stopped when she saw tears in Anastasia's face - Are you crying?
- Yes. I love you so much. This is perfect.
Mandy got up from her chair and went to hug her friend.
 - This baby is keeping me from drinking but I can still eat so let's eat everything! - Mandy said smiling with Anastasia.
- Isn’t Mexican food too strong for the baby?
- Well, it’ll have to step it up if it wants to come to this world?
- “It”? - Anastasia was laughing.
- We don't know if it's a girl or a boy so we call it "It". It looks like an alien, a penny sized alien.  Are you nervous to see Josh at the wedding? - Mandy threw the words without warning.
- Again with the Josh thing? - Anastasia said - I'm always nervous when I’m about to see him. Even after he dumped me after having the best sex of his life. How are you so sure he will be at the wedding?
- Oh, come on! How is he going to miss it?
- Anyway, if he goes I'm sure he is going with Lauren.
- Darling, Lauren is in the past.
- How come?
- Lauren broke up with Josh because he was "too boring" for her.
- God! Poor Josh!
- Nah! Josh was good with it.
- How do you know everything about it?
- Nick likes to gossip - Mandy said with total calm and that made Anastasia burst with laugh - He does! He is the gossipy aunt.
- Shut up! - She was really happy that Josh was single again; it was like a never ending feeling of hope. - I don't know why I'm glad about it.
- Because you want him...
- I can't believe you are pregnant! Cheers to that! - Anastasia said raising her Margarita glass and drinking from it, ignoring the Josh issue and changing the conversation topic.
On Mandy’s wedding day, Anastasia woke up very early at Barbara's place. The first rays of sunlight made their way through the curtains which made her regret drinking so much the night before. It was hard to get out of bed but she did, took a shower, grabbed a pair of jeans and a t-shirt with a pair of sneakers and went downstairs where Barbara was feeding the twins.
 - I just had a dejà-vu - She said looking at her big sister.
- Are you going to the venue? - Barbara asked.
- Yes. I'm pretty sure Mandy didn't sleep at all - the blue haired girl answered.
- I will get ready here, wait for the babysitter Anthony is gonna bring and then I’ll leave for the mansion.
- Okay! - An gave Barbara a kiss on the cheek, and one to each twin - See ya later! I love you! - She said walking out the door.
Mandy was going to get married at Malibu. She and Peyton rented a huge and beautiful mansion overlooking a cliff from where you could see all the seashore. They would have the ceremony there, the place also had access to a private beach.
Anastasia drove there to find a huge amount of people setting everything up and decorating. There was pink and blue flowers everywhere, the colors were because their friendship - Peyton didn't really care about it - and shiny, sparkly things all over the place, crystals, glitter, everything.
She walked upstairs to the main bedroom which was set up with a huge makeup and hair station.
 - I'm about to throw up - Mandy was lying in a giant bed.
- Don't be so overdramatic - Anastasia jumped next to her - It should be one of the happiest days of your life, relax!
- No, I actually have morning sickness - Mandy said.
- Oh, fuck!
- Richard sent me a huge, beautiful flower arrangement - Mandy said.
- Really? - Anastasia wasn't expecting that but it showed her how good of a gentleman Richard was.
- And a Congratulations card.
- Now I feel bad - Anastasia said- Richard was so good to me. What if he was the one and I let him slip away?
- No, he wasn't. Your one is gonna be here tonight.
- It’s time to go - Anastasia got up from the bed – Is there any food downstairs? I'm starving.
- You’re kidding, right? There's food like for an army! Let's go!
After eating some delicious buns with cheese and garlic the chef was making, the girls started to get ready. Hannah was the other bridesmaid and Mandy's mom was there too to get her hair and makeup done.
When it was time to see Mandy with her wedding dress, nobody could hold back the tears.
 - You don't even know why you’re crying! -Mandy laughed.
- Because you look beautiful! - Mandy's mom said.
- I look beautiful all the time and I have never seen you crying about it! - She was still laughing.
Mandy's pink hair had 50’s vibe waves, and her dress was strapless with handmade embroidered appliqué. Makeup was natural. She looked beautiful. The shoes were blue and you could read “Wifey for life” on the soles. The veil was a showstopper, it had more embroidered ornaments, including two blue birds carrying a ribbon from where you could read “And they lived happily ever after”.
Anastasia, on the other hand, wore a pale pink dress with a deep cleavage and embroidered stars all over, her midnight blue hair was up in a messy bun.
The walk to the aisle was the weirdest thing An ever did. She was accompanied by the best man, Peyton's childhood friend from Colorado. All the eyes were on Mandy when it was her turn to make appear on the set of the ceremony. The last light of the day painted the sky and her pink hair was shining. Anastasia saw Peyton's jaw dropping to the floor.
An also gave a look to the assistants; she saw Chad, Flea and Anthony next to Barbara, Nick - her father, who always saw Mandy as another daughter- Mark and Steph. She also saw Eric, Nick and Jonathan. She saw many of their high school friends, some musician friends and then there he was, sitting on the fifth row, behind Anthony. His hair was straightened and he was wearing a tux in his right size. Next to him was his sister Kelly and some guys from The Getaway tour, they made a lot of friends there. Josh’s eyes were completely on Anastasia, he wasn't hiding it. She smiled and waved, he smiled and waved back. And there she was again, looking at the true love of his life.
The ceremony was longer than expected so when the Minister said the phrase “You may kiss the bride” it was a relief for everyone. It was time to party. Anastasia talked to almost everyone in the party. She danced with Mandy and with Nick, announced a huge surprise for the bride: she managed to get the Backstreet Boys to perform, Mandy's favorite childhood band, and then –as in a wedding full of musicians– some guests grabbed instruments and put together an improvised band, Chad and Mark among the members. Of course, they played every cover people requested.
It was so much fun. Anastasia wasn't avoiding Josh but maybe he was because they didn't cross paths in the entire evening. At one moment Mandy decided to pick up the microphone to say some things.
 - Hello everyone! - She was so happy - Y'all know how I don't like to be on a stage - she said sarcastically and everyone laughed - and thank God I have one on my own wedding. I wanna thank everyone for being here and celebrating this obvious step of our relationship after eight years together. I couldn't imagine sharing my life with anybody else and I'm so lucky I found true love so early in life and without the hard work that it implies - She looked at Peyton who was next to her- But we are not only celebrating our wedding today - Anastasia smiled wide and looked at Nick because she wanted to see his face, he was going to be so excited to be an uncle - but also the begging of our family and I want to inform all that if I treated you like trash and screamed you during this weeks is because I have a baby in my belly and you are going to have to deal with that for another eight months.
Nick's jaw fell to the floor and Mandy's mom started to cry. Everyone was so happy for them and ran to hug them and congratulate them. Anastasia saw the perfect opportunity to step out and walked downstairs to the private beach the Mansion had. The moonshine reflected on the water and it made it look like glitter. She started to think about everything that just happened and how unlikely it would be to happen to her. Her heart was Josh's and she couldn't carry a child inside her; she started to cry thinking that something was always going to be missing from her life.
She looked at the shore and cried, like she hadn’t cried in a long time. She looked at the sky and back to the horizon, then she felt a pair of arms around her.
 - I'm sorry to be crying at your wedding- she said turning herself thinking it was Mandy but no, it was Josh. She was so shocked the tears stopped running.
- Weddings can get a bit emotional, especially when the bride's pregnant - Josh said hugging her. She felt such relieve with those arms around her that she hugged him too. It was always the same, Josh breaks her heart and then appears giving her love and she forgot about the past.
- Yeah. A thing that will not happen to me - She said.
- Being pregnant at your wedding? - Josh said smiling, Anastasia melted watching him doing that - It can happen if you plan it.
- Being pregnant in general.
- How come? - Josh looked at her without breaking the hug and she remembered that she never told Josh she wasn't fertile, now she had to.
- I never told you this, because I don't really talk about it, but my reproductive system doesn’t work well and I'm not fertile, I can't be a mother - surprisingly for her, Josh hugged her tightly and then carry her to sit in the sand.
- You can be a mother, there's some other ways, adoption or even a surrogate.
- Would you like that the woman you marry can't carry your own child inside of her?
- It’s the 21st century, I can live with that. It will be our child no matter what - Those words went straight into Anastasia's heart.
- You need to stop being so damn perfect - Josh smiled.
- I'm not. You are and yet I'm always letting you go - Anastasia just shrugged - I don't want to give you the same speech I'm always giving you, how many times can I be sorry about my behavior towards you? - Anastasia opened her mouth to speak but Josh shut her up - Let me do the talking this time. When I heard about your break up with Richard I told myself that this was the time, it was it, no more fear, no more delays, I want you and I want you now. I love you, Anastasia, and I was always sure of that and part of not being able to be with you was my fear of losing you. But I lost you so many times I decided I'm not going to be afraid of the future, I just want to enjoy the rest of my days with you next to me. I want to wake up and see you, I want to sleep with you in my arms, I want to be with you and adopt a child together. I'm ready, I'm not afraid anymore.
Anastasia was speechless, what could she possibly say? Her dream was finally coming true and Josh was all there for her, she couldn't believe it.
 - I know it’s going to be hard for you to believe I'm not gonna run away again - He continued talking - And I can't ask you to believe me, I'm just going to show you. Let me show you.
An kissed him. She couldn't resist it. As much as her dress let her, she jumped over him and kissed him, long and deep kisses. She felt little smiles in his face between kisses and that made her smile too; both started to laugh and stopped the kissing session to look at each other.
 - How did you know I was here? - She asked.
- Before the wedding started I took a walk around, I found this access to the beach and thought it was a great place to escape from people for a moment. I was looking for you at the party and couldn't find you so I just knew you were here - They were so alike.
- I love you, Josh. I never stopped loving you and I never will. You are my other half and even if you run away I know you are going to make your way back to my arms and I'll be here, waiting for you because there's no other man I want by my side - she started to cry and Josh wiped the tears from her cheeks with his long fingers, then hugged her again.
- You know? I keep the book you gave me at Christmas on a shelf in my room and I look at it every night before sleep and every morning when I wake up to make sure I never forget you - Anastasia gave him a short kiss this time.
Both got up and Anastasia tried to clean her dress, it was all covered in sand, Josh helped her as both laughed.
 - I know you maybe don't want a big wedding or don't want a wedding at all - He knew her so well - But would you accept being with me the rest of our days on Earth?
- I really thought I would never hear those words from your mouth - She said.
- Well, never is a long time - Anastasia smiled at him for quoting his own songs - but it happens in the end.
- I don't know what's going to happen in a year, five or forty, I'm just sure that I want to see your face, and hug your body and kiss your lips until I die.
Josh kissed her again, a deep kiss, a meaningful one, this wasn't a death kiss, it was a forever kiss.

There are also excellent leisure facilities on campus: barbecues, concerts in the university bar and many university clubs that range from kite surfing to bush trekking and make it easy to get in touch with other “internationals” and locals. Few countries in the world offer such a comprehensive service to international students.
6. Open-minded and hospitable people in the Land of Diversity Australia Outback
“Last but not least” Australia is known worldwide: friendly people and a breath taking diversity of countries, cultures and wild animals. Australia is home to many species that are not only threatened with extinction but do not live anywhere else in the world. Koalas and kangaroos are just two of the many species to be discovered. Australia’s seemingly endless sandy beaches are also unique in the world and promise experiences that you will never forget. Australians are also known for their hospitality and openness.

Australia! — Zealand! Please give insider tips.
11. Life changing experiences
